The ambiance here was nice, with one side having the covered street patio and the other open sidewalk dining. We were excited because they were one of the only well-reviewed Italian restaurants open at 3:00. We ordered a half Mista salad, the arancini appetizer, and a funghi pizza. We had a lovely server, she was mild mannered and sweet. The salad was delicious with a robust balsamic and fresh tasting parmesan. The arancini was larger than normal and different than a traditional arancini, with a center of cheese and more batter and less risotto than normal. This dish was still delicious, especially because of the herb cream sauce. Then the pizza came... It looked really good, but smelled spoiled. We love mushrooms and are cheese connoisseurs, and this pizza was off. We decided to give it a taste. The mushrooms were very chunky and big, compared to delicate sliced mushrooms or even a compote. Besides the chunkiness of the mushrooms, the cheese just didn't taste good, and even though the crust was a good texture, it was slightly sour. We couldn't even finish the pizza and ended up giving it away. It was unbelievable after some delicious appetizers that the pizza was of such low quality. Furthermore, this whole time, when we're trying to have a pleasant dining experience, even if the meal wasn't a perfect 10, there was another worker loudly setting up for evening service right behind us. He wasn't even trying to be quiet moving propane tanks, tables, and chairs. It was an obnoxious distraction. Pretty disappointed but this might of been an off day for them. We...
Read moreTL;DR - Passive aggressive staff that doesn't communicate. Mediocre pizza. 20% penalty for staying past close.
Came in around 8 on a weeknight. John was our server. Service started out decent enough, but was slow. Got done with salads and pizza and since they took so long it was around closing time when we ordered some frozen yogurt. We weren't told that they had to spin back up the machine to make it, but we quickly found out when they started making passive aggressive remarks about us.
From that point on they made it a point to keep us longer. One of our friends waited an extra 15 minutes after they served desserts to everyone else. From there they passed our table time and time again while our credit cards sat ready to go in the check book.
Here is the best part. One of us accidentally asked for the check before some of us ordered desert. No gratuity added. Fast forward 45 minutes to when we get our final check, 20% GRATUITY ADDED.
Note to management- teach your staff how to communicate! If you had told us that it would be 30 minutes to get a frozen yogurt we would understand and get desert elsewhere. We don't want to be there 45 minutes extra as much as you don't. We never got so much as an apology or explanation for keeping us so long so I have no remorse in leaving you a 1...
Read more4 stars because the food was really fantastic and- as the other reviewers have said- the soft-serve is worth the trip! I dropped one star because- even for Napa- the prices were a bit much. They don't have an option for create your own pizza, but they did let us order the Margherita and add to it. My husband added pepperoni on half and speck on the other half. For that, they charged him $30 for his pizza...most expensive pepperoni I have ever seen! And I added the steak to mine- and they charged $29 for my pizza. So- for 2 individual sized pizzas and a shared dessert, our bill was a little over $70. It was good....but not $70 worth of good, particularly considering they are not what I'd call generous with the fresh mozzarella. The crust and sauce were fabulous, though, and so was my steak. If you like the pizzas as presented on the menu, you wouldn't have anywhere near this high of a bill. And the soft-serve....just do not skip the soft-serve! The salted caramel...
