Staff are not present except during breakfast and housekeeping hours. Self check-in and check-out with pin coded doors. I didn't feel comfortable with their pin code selection strategy.
Breakfast is during limited hours (8a-930a) but portions are good and food is flavorful. But, be warned, there are no breakfast choices. And the only thing we were asked was quantity of people in our party and if we had dietary restrictions. (Which is a great question but are they able to prepare a meal following proper guidelines for ensuring no nuts/dairy/other contamination? It's a house kitchen not a restaurant kitchen.)
We went out for several hours but they were not able to housekeep our rooms before we returned. (Staffing appears to be limited.)
Note, the pandemic has caused a large migration of residents from the area and all the wineries were short staffed and only doing tastings with reservations. It seems like the hotel is similarly affected.
Typical hotel bedding, which means a combined sheet-comforter and the room gets cold at night so maintaining a comfortable sleep temp is difficult. Additionally the location is in the midst of a residential block and at least one neighbor has a dog that barks at all hours. Additionally the blinds had no curtains and if I can easily see the neighbors yard through the blinds then they can see me. The bedroom was cramped compared to the fairly spacious bathroom (but we did not partake in the Jacuzzi tub, so a quarter of the bathroom was ornamental for us.)
The location is prime for many downtown restaurants and shops and within a short distance from the wine train, but it felt expensive for everything offered. After discussion we decided we would try someplace else first before we'd...
Read moreMy wife and I came here on our honeymoon. The hotel is an old house. So the rooms fit that decor. I enjoyed the wood floors that creek and the subway tile in the bathroom. If you like sleek and modern this is not for you. We had a fireplace in our room. It was very spacious both room and bathroom.
There was no contact check in which is super helpful. They text you a door code for the front and back door and your room code and room number. There is a nice parking area but the quiet street also has plenty of parking
The breakfasts were very good. Two days we had egg casseroles and one day Belgian waffles. There was also coffee and french presses in the lobby. There is a community fridge and microwave in the lobby as well. The fridge also has waters and sodas for purchase in an honor bar setup
The staff interaction was very limited because of no contact check in. The man serving breakfast was extremely nice. He was the only staff we saw.
The have a library of DVDs you can borrow to watch in your room. Our bathroom room had a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The water pressure is not great but again this is an older building. You are going for ambiance. In our night stand drawer there was a book of guest experiences and everyone seemed to be happy with the Hotel. I wished I could give them 6 stars. Our stay was...
Read moreOur charming room had nice touches like gas fireplace with stone chimney, and a very large well-designed bathroom with a "pump jacuzzi" tub and shower. Location is on a charmless stretch of Polk St. that is two blocks from the most appealing downtown street (First St.) - so convenient walking distance.
Absolutely no staff on site from 3pm arrival until the following day - poor-to-no-service; phone contact person unhelpful (and initially unintelligible).
Brown water coming out of the hot water faucets in the room - disgusting.
It was a cold night in Napa - 34 degrees outside. The corner room (#14) has single pane windows, the display fireplace does not provide adequate heat, and a "two-way air conditioner/heater did not work on the heat cycle. We were cold all night.
The offering at breakfast is toast and juice on a counter and a no-choice plate of breakfast consisting of a rock-hard scone, a half orange and a manufactured rectangle of egg-like substance. You will hit your head on the ceiling of the breakfast room if you are over 6'2" tall. In most cities, the room would be illegal.
In general, the public areas of this "boutique hotel" have an uncomfortable, run-down feel.
Overall, a crappy experience - the good hotels in Napa are in the...
