Area 51 Cupcakery — Restaurant in Naperville

I’m sitting here reading all these bad reviews & my mouth dropped to the floor in disbelief. My experience with this bakery has been nothing but incredible.

My first time trying them was this past Valentine’s Day. We are new to Naperville and discovered that this bakery has the best cupcakes. So, we decided to celebrate the hallmark day with cupcakes & I'm glad we did! I was instantly hooked with my first bite. Shortly after that experience though I got a concussion and posted on instagram how their cupcakes were the only things I craved when I was in bed in the worst pain of my life. They were so kind and offered me 6 free cupcakes to help me feel better. (I never accepted that offer though because I would rather pay for it to help support small businesses).

After that experience, my son wanted a cake from there for his birthday. They made him an awesome Kirby cake that he loved so much he didn’t want to eat it LOL but we did and it was incredible. We got cream cheese frosting with Oreo chocolate inside.

Everyone at the party fell in love with their cake that my soon to be sister in law ordered a first communion cake & my brother is demanding carrot cake cupcakes for his birthday tonight. So excited to see those & try them!

I usually don’t get obsessed with business’s but this one in particular I really love. The owners seem sweet, staff looks happy to be there & is super helpful. Whoever runs their social media is a rock star! That’s how I’ve been placing my orders and they’re always on top of it!

So when I read these bad reviews.. I can’t help but wonder if they are actually true or if these people are just being Karen’s because it is Naperville & sometimes people can’t stand a thriving business & they need a different opinion from everyone else. Not sure. All I can say is, don’t let the bad reviews detour you from trying them. All these amazing reviews speak volumes… THEY...

I'm used to walking into a bakery and picking a cake the day of an event( family birthdays, dinner with friends, thanksgiving). To my surprise, none of the bakeries I called with high ratings in Naperville could offer me a cake, they all said I had to call a week or two in advance!

Whatttttt for a 6 inch or 8 inch cake? Are you serious?

Well, Smallcakes offered me a custom cake within 24 hours. Not only did they offer to make a custom 8 inch cake, they listened to my mother's likes and dislikes and came up with an original combination that wasn't offered on the menu to suit my mother's tastes.

When I arrived, they were still decorating my cake so they offered me a seat, offered me coffee, the woman who took my order came out to meet me.

While I waited, I strolled over to the hundred boxes or so of orders waiting to be wrapped and picked up by other clients and I saw all sorts of character cakes and cupcakes( Roblox, Frozen, Ballerinas, Princess, etc). All professionally done.

The standard of customer service here is outstanding.

If you're in Naperville and have a chance to come through here, I highly recommend it. I will update with photos of the cake and taste.

Update: my mom loved this cake, the cake itself was fluffy and moist. The frosting was not overly coconut. It was a perfect balance of vanilla bean, coconut buttercream and flakes. delicious and wonderful!!!!! The decoration was beautiful. This cake saved the night because the restaurant messed up the birthday dinner (look out for that review on a well known seafood restaurant)🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. Thank you Smallcakes,

Update 6 months later : my mom calls from NYC and tells me she sometimes dreams of the delicious birthday cake she had. She can't wait to return to Chicago...

I highly recommend using Smallcakes for your wedding! Jill and her team were friendly and made sure everything was perfect for our day. They were quick to answer questions and made the process so easy. We knew we wanted cupcakes at our reception and we have not stopped receiving compliments since our July date. Everyone loved that there were many delicious flavors to choose from and that we had a gluten free option as well. About a week before our wedding, my husband said that he also wanted us to have a small cake for us to cut for pictures and for our head table. Jill accommodated this request and designed the cake to look exactly how we wanted. The price for delivery, set up, cupcakes, and our small wedding cake was super reasonable. With everything combined, it was still significantly less expensive than if we would have chosen to have dessert provided from our reception venue. We also had a mix up and forgot to grab the cupcake stand that we had borrowed from Smallcakes at the end of our reception. Not only did Jill assure me that it was okay, but she offered to pick up the stand at our venue. We cannot recommend...
