Everdine’s Grilled Cheese is a cool spot right in the heart of Naperville, Illinois, offering a unique spin on the classic grilled cheese.
They have a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches like teriyaki chicken, Boar’s Head meats, tuna mac & cheese, or you can even build your own. Each sandwich is grilled cheese with a twist, making the menu fun and creative.
The place is small, with only four tables and some barstool seating around the counter, which is perfect for a quick bite with a couple of friends. Outdoor seating is available when the weather is nice, but large groups will find it a bit tight.
One thing to keep in mind is that it can get pretty busy, and wait times can be long. I’ve seen people wait up to 15 minutes, which feels long considering you order at the counter and seat yourself. The staff works hard, but even with five people behind the counter, they can struggle to keep up during rushes, so be prepared to be patient.
No need to tip since there’s no table service, and you handle cleanup yourself. Sandwiches can be pricey—some options go up to $11 just for one grilled cheese sandwich —but overall, it’s a fun place worth trying. Favorites include the Mac & Cheese, Socra Cheese and the...
Read moreAll this hype and for what?! I normally don’t leave reviews unless I have had a really good or a really bad experience. Unfortunately, this was the latter. I have been craving this place bc I love grilled cheese and it’s right by my house. I hadn’t gone here for months and thought I’d finally give it a shot. To start off, the staff are some young kids - which is cool and all but I’ve noticed most of them lack basic custom terms service skills. The 2 girls were on the phone and chatting and it took them at least 2 min to realize I was standing at the cashiers to come over and say hello. We dined in and ordered a grilled cheese sand., tomato soup, mac n cheese bowl, and the tuna sandwich. I swear my younger brother makes better grilled cheese than this. It was SO bland and the cheese wasnt even fully melted. The bread was not toasted enough. The mac n cheese (my favoritest thing in the world) was absolutely gross. No salt, no flavor, no nothing. Tomato soup was average. The tuna sandwich was also def not upto my liking. I think Jasons’s deli is SO much better for the price too. The only good thing here was Joes ice tea which I got in raspberry flavor. Never coming...
Read moreI spend a lot of time in downtown Naperville with my family and every time we pass by Everdine's it is packed! We finally decided to give it a try and it was well worth the short wait. The prices were a little steep for grilled cheese but the food was delicious! I ordered the half grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of soup. I got the '81 Caprice Classic (tomatoes, basil, arugula, balsamic glaze, mozzarella on wheat) and it was very good and a cup of tomato soup that was delicious! My husband got the Usual Suspect (crispy bacon, tomato, american, swiss, havarti on texas toast) and he liked his very much. My daughter didn't care much for the chicken ramen soup but I thought it was okay. There were so many unique choices for grilled cheese like one with mac and cheese on it, or one with ham and pineapple! It was difficult to choose just one but I will definitely be back to try out a few others. I have to add that the staff was so friendly! We sat at the bar right by the register and watching them put the sandwiches together and chatting with them was pretty cool! They work like a well oiled machine and even if it is packed you don't have to...
