TL;DR - don’t hesitate, this is the best Indian restaurant in Philly area, you can’t go wrong with it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Indian here 🙋🏻♀️)
We placed an order over the phone on a Wednesday evening and the food was ready to be picked up in less than 20 minutes.
Here is what we ordered:
Samosa - we enjoyed the samosas, no complaints!
Papdi chaat - I requested the mint, tamarind chutney and yogurt to be separate so the papdi chaat doesn’t get soggy by the time we reach home and they fulfilled our request; very tasty papdi chaat, unlike other Indian restaurants!
Srinagar Special Chicken (spicy) - this had really distinct flavors that weren’t too overpowering and the chicken breast pieces were cooked so well! We asked whether this dish is sweet-ish or not, they confirmed it’s not so we went for it (as most Indian restaurants add way too much sugar in their food).
Paneer Makhani (spicy) - I thought we made a mistake by ordering this as the color of Srinagar Special Chicken and this dish was almost the same and I thought it would be the same gravy but NO, not only it wasn’t the same gravy but it also had completely different flavors! It was a little on the sweet-ish side but not too sweet like the rest of the restaurants. We loved it!
Garlic Naan - a bit too thick and doughy for our liking, this is the only item that didn’t meet our expectations, some improvement can be done on this.
Plain naan - no complaints here, we liked the plain naan.
It was my birthday and I was dreading to place an order from a place (especially Indian, considering the subpar Indian restaurants around the area) I had never been to but they didn’t disappoint us!
We have tried many Indian food restaurants around the Philly area but this is by far THE BEST RESTAURANTS that we’ve tried! I love the fact that they don’t add crazy amount of food color or excessive sugar to their dishes.
The only reason I’m taking a ⭐️ away is because of the garlic naan but this is a solid Indian spot if you’re looking for a really good Indian place!
I’ll definitely order again! 😊

Read moreI have been big fan of chef Ram’s style and taste of indian and Nepali cuisines since his days as a chef around Philadelphia. I was very happy to know that he started his own joint as Srinagar. Srinagar is a place in Nepal where he belongs to and very popular for exotic Nepali cuisines. That explains his roots and inclination towards serving best taste. I am a regular at Srinagar, believe me, I’ve tried everything on the menu. Lamb Vindaloo, chilly chicken and chicken tikka masala are my favorites. When I feel low, I go for extra spicy lamb vindaloo, its heat sweats away my worries and I’d have mild tikka masala or sweet butter chicken to supplement happiness. If you’ve read this far, ask Ram when he would add Chicken/Duck Chhoila 😉, he’d definitely 😊 , or may be you’d get lucky like me to get to try that (Its a delicacy prepared by charring meat and marinating in a special set of nepali spices.) I got lucky once to get to try that. tldr; - Very popular chef from Nepal worked 15+ years at other Indian joints around , cooks with shear passion, foods’ taste is unmatched, best Indian cuisine served around, ask about chhoila to bring smile to his face...
Read moreSeriously delicious. At the recommendation of the server we started with the Jeera Aloo and the Samosa Chaat. Both were excellent and a nice mix of textures. For entrees we had Chicken Garlic Kebabs, Paneer Tikka Masala, Dal Makhani, and Chana Saag. We added garlic naan and roti. The chicken was moist and had nice spices. The masala and saag sauces were super flavorful and were the stars of the evening. I’ve had better dal but this was good too. We preferred the naan to the roti but if you want whole wheat the roti was good. We all left stuffed and with leftovers. The service was swift, no frills but friendly and efficient and the food came quickly. It’s not a fancy place but the food is excellent. We were seated without a reservation on a Wednesday at 6:30, though others who came later were seated outside because the small dining room was full. The word is getting out and I’d recommend making a reservation. I’ve had great Indian food in London, Paris, and other major metros, and I’ve had totally mediocre food in between. I’m glad to say that Srinagar is a great option closer to home when I...
