A must have visited on an off day. Hubbs & I stopped by for breakfast afyer a Dr visit. We arrived at approx 9:45. Not to busy with either breakfast or lunch on a Tuesday. Hubbs had the Sonoma Club which Hubbs really enjoyed. He specifically mentioned he liked the potatoes as well. I unfortunately did not have the same luck. I ordered the Traditional Day Starter-2 eggs, over medium please, with bacon. I did not care for the potatoes ( to brown-maybe needs new greese in the fryer? ) & the eggs. Oh, the poor Poor eggs. They had been placed on a WAY to hot grill & been cooked almost solid. The bacon was cooked flat, but was nothing special. I LIVE bacon & ate 1 slice only. I did speak to the waitress when she came by to check on us. I asked her to advise the cook that what he served me was not over medium eggs. They should not be fried to death! Whites set and the yolk runny. I don't mind a little firm yolk, but this was WAY overcooked! Now, I advised her POLITELY! There's Never a reason to speak poorly to others! She asked to bringg me new eggs, but I declined.... I don't want them to waste another set of eggs trying to cook them over. I assured her I only wanted her to inform the cook, so he can do better with the next order. To my surprise, she removed the cost of the eggs from my breakfast, which I did not expect. Our waitress was soft spoken and lovely. She was attentive and apologetic, although she didn't need to be. I don't know if we'll return. There are just to many places to eat breakfast in Nashville, however this is my 2nd try having breakfast and neither breakfast was anything I'd wish to be served again. (See my review on Big Bad Breakfast). This kinda sucks because I love breakfast, but I'd love to find something other than Waffle House or Cracker Barrel to eat at. (Yea! I Like Waffle House, so you KNOW I'm not to picky!) So, 3 out of 5 stars because my Hubby like his meal (2 stars) and 1 for Nakayla, our Server. I tipped her appropriately for her service, not for the quality of the meal that she had no control over. I didn't have a good experience, but you may want to give it a shot because there are many other great reviews. They seem to have a LOT of "Benedict" types of dishes there, so if that's your thing, hit em up and see...
Read moreMy first visit -On a Thursday around 11. I was by myself and sat at the bar. The bar area was very comfortable and open. It was lively but surprisingly quiet, which was nice , because I got some work done. I don’t know the bartender/servers name but he was efficient and gave good general service. I ordered a small order of beignets and the eggs Benedict, traditional version. My experience with beignets in the past was that they are light and fluffy. These Were incredibly dense (like biscuit dough) They had tried to make like beignets but they were not really beignets though and were too heavy and thick. I only ate one and the sauce that they served with them -some sort of honey marmalade- was great, but the actual product was not great. My eggs Benedict was not great either. It was a Hardy portion and came with a side of potatoes. In their defense, I did not tell the bartender that I wanted the Eggs runny. The eggs came out nearly hard boiled and this was disappointing. I also was not crazy about the hollandaise- which seemed obviously homemade to me. It was a bit bland and not enough of it. Was a nice piece of ham and the English muffins were fresh and soft but because the eggs and the hollandaise were not good , I really didn’t eat that much of it. Good potatoes. Interestingly, even though I didn’t eat very much of either item that I got, the bartender did not ask me if everything was OK or if I liked it. I probably should’ve sent it back but I did not. I’m not here to give a bad review, but this is my honest experience with what I got. The person who sat next to me got the most beautiful omelette I have ever seen with this gorgeous plate of fruit. The presentation of the food that I saw was outstanding, the portions were generous, and I got the feeling that I’d really just ordered the wrong thing.
I will no doubt give them a second chance and give them the benefit of the doubt. The staff was really good and I liked the restaurant atmosphere. My favorite thing in the world though is eggs Benedict and I’m quite the connoisseur even though I’m pretty flexible in my taste. I won’t get that again though. Maybe I’ll get the...
Read moreWe used to like this place for its casual atmosphere and spiced-up take on traditional fare. But our most recent visit, late morning of February 1st, had us walking out before the food even came to the table.
The dining room had practically no one in it when we arrived, and at least three servers and one managerial-looking sort taking care of the few customers. There were at least two people in the kitchen.
It took a good 10 minutes to be seated (there was no host, and someone who was behind the sparsely populated bar eventually emerged to do so. After another 5 minutes or so (remember there was practically no one there), a server showed up to give us water and ask for an order.
The server brought one cup of coffee as requested before leaving us to wait. The food never arrived. The server continued to flit about the dining area for the next half hour, with no apparent purpose. She never checked back or refilled either coffee or water.
My wife finally got up to ask another server (our own had disappeared) about the food. The second server looked at her like she was asking the most unreasonable question she could have possibly asked, and then told her it would be taken care of.
Our own server then showed up near the counter where the orders are placed, with a lost expression on her face. She proceeded to mull around that area without bothering to come to the table again. After some more time of this incompetence and neglect, we walked out. Our total time in this place, with nothing but two glasses of water and one cup of coffee, amounted to nearly an hour.
No doubt there will be some form of public damage control by way of response to this post. But regardless of any attempt at posing, this is just not an acceptable way to run a restaurant. After patronizing this place since its opening, we will never return.
Typical of the places that open in this city, they show up putting their best foot forward and gradually degenerate into their...
