I am a huge fan of Blue Coast even after working at one in college. This particular store has always had its issues, and I keep going back every few months to give it a chance and satisfy my craving for fruit tea. One occasion I visited while a manager was threatening to quit and walk out while a new young employee was struggling to complete my order for around 20 minutes. This time, I stood at the front of the line for a minute or two while no fewer than 4 employees looked at me without acknowledgment except to announce they they were out of chips. In addition, I do understand that after a dinner rush things can get a little messy through the line, but it seems to look that way every time I go in. This visit promised more of the same. The sad, dry bits of food could be found everywhere you looked on the food line, while the fruit tea machine overflowed onto the counter of the drink station. Finally, the policy we always used to follow was that serving utensils from one item should not come in contact with other food items so that gluten-free and vegetarian products are not cross-contaminated. I cringed as I watched the employee mix around my rice, beans, and chicken with the same spoon and dig her hands (with gloves) into the bottom of the rice pan to retrieve the dried out grains that remained. I truly would love for this place to be successful and I hope that someone from management sees this and works to improve the policies at...
Read moreOrdered some tacos. Flour tortillas were soggy due to the pico de gallo, because it’s simply too watery. Tomatillo salsa is also too watery (in Mexico, this is a topping for tacos, NOT JUST FOR DIPPING BORING, GENERIC TORTILLAS CHIPS THAT SEEMS TO BE AT EVERY WANNABE UNAUTHENTIC AMERICAN-MEXICAN RESTAURANT). I ordered a traditional street Mexican style taco with chicken, onions, and cilantro. Barely any chicken, onions, and cilantro. Unless you feel your taco up with unauthentic, cheap fillers such as “Baja rice,” or whatever the heck that is, they will short you on the meats and cilantro. Steak for the tacos has a weird, unnatural texture and color. The steak tastes like nasty soy mock steak or something, even if it is in fact beef steak.
In summary, soggy tortillas, watery toppings, no authentic Mexican salsa toppings for tacos, shorts customers on meat and cilantro, steak looks and tastes like weird mock meat, and like every Mexican-American style restaurant, more trash cheap filler tortilla chips.
Protest tortilla chip fillers; end tortilla chips at fake unauthentic Mexican American restaurants; ban tortilla chips at these restaurants. Make American-Mexican restaurants GREAT AND...
Read moreHorrible. The food is very old, stale, and disgusting and the staff is not helpful at all. This is going to sound like a “Karen” rant but I assure you, it is for your own good to consider this review in your decision to eat here. If you attempt to modify any order, they will essentially deny it or make you feel stupid for trying to build your own burrito which is essentially the idea of the store. The person checking me out completed my transaction, never gave me my food, then walked away and got herself a soft drink and sat on her phone. I understand there’s difficulty hiring right now and the service industry stinks, but regardless this place is just pitiful. We were told before we went that this place is bad but we’ve always loved blue coast in the past (Mt. Juliet location) so we were willing to try. We will never go again and please read this review and save your money and go elsewhere. Also the queso tastes like melted American cheese which is no bueno. I wish BCB corporate would see this and just close shop. Hoping...
