A friend and I had dinner at China One last week. I went inside to place our order for takeout. Another couple went inside the restaurant about a minute before I did. They were still reviewing the menu, so I placed dinner orders for myself and my friend. The couple ordered at the counter and sat down at a table next to mine. While waiting, another customer came in and placed an order for pick up. He left the restaurant after ordering. About five minutes later another customer came in and placed an order for pick up. He also left planning to come back for his order. The couple at the table received their order before mine and left. I sat at the table, awaiting our orders for approximately 20 minutes. I heard as they called from kitchen each order as it was completed so that it could be bagged for pick up. I then heard, scraping as the cooks were cleaning all the cooking surfaces. The server sat at a table in the back amused with something on her phone. After waiting for so long, I went to the counter and the person seemed rushed and said, “Oh yeah.” The server that was looking at her phone walked slowly to the kitchen, still looking at her phone and bagged my order. Once she was in front of me, she behaved as though she was rushed to give me the order. She offered no apology for my lengthy wait. I was infuriated, because everyone else’s order was prepared, including me and my friend’s order. But the server sat engrossed with her telephone instead of giving me my order. I had already included a tip for service when I initially placed the order. I wish I had not given that tip, because it was most assuredly not earned. There are other Chinese restaurants in the area, including one that is just a bit further from my location than China One. However, I will gladly make an effort to go to another restaurant where I might get some decent, or...
Read moreUsed to order here all the time, but about a year ago, the quality dropped. I gave it some time before ordering again because of my disappointment, and it will be a longer while before I order again, if ever.
Egg rolls were just slimy veggie socks. No flavor, not a good consistency, and even after dousing them in hot mustard, they weren't good by any stretch.
My girlfriend ordered the honey walnut shrimp, and it had a very cornstarch taste. Better than the rest of the dishes, it wasn't very good, and the fried rice accompanying it was not fried rice. It was just cheap, yellow, non-flavored rice.
Steamed dumplings - just ok, and while the sauce was good, it was like they weren't steamed long enough.
Singapore Mai fun used to actually taste like curry with some other spices and include vegetables, but this time it was just flat out salty, lacking vegetables and quality.
What happened here, guys? Like most Chinese restaurants around here, it started off so good and devolved into nothing worthwhile. I doubt I'll...
Read moreThe food is so delicious although I had my Chinese fix already, I had to return for my son who wanted the same thing I had a couple days ago. Not too pleased with placing my card for payment in your hands and you placing it on the counter, where’s the mutual respect, not cool. Very pleased with the fact that I ordered diet shrimp and broccoli and inquired about garlic sauce. They added it no problem. Pros and cons I suppose. They were friendly enough today (I got the sisters mixed up). The vegetable fried rice here is my fav in Nashville, no one and I mean no one does it better! And the soft fried teriyaki chicken is everything coming from a real fatty!! The portions are plentiful, the broccoli was not over cooked and the flavor of the dishes is simply delish. I am very big on customer service, but all things considered, especially in 2025, I will definitely be going back. Give them a try. The food does...
