Condado Tacos — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

Did not end up eating here after going in today. FOH staff was great, no knock on them +2 stars. Only issue with FOH probably comes down to management. I just wanted to place a takeout order. To do so, I had to go to the bar. Didn’t think this would be an issue, but if you continue reading you’ll see why. Wanted to note this, as I’ve placed many takeout orders at other locations, and those locations just take my order at the front. I recommend using that strategy so what happened below doesn’t happen. -1 star to management

Bartender tries too hard to be cool and funny instead of just doing his job. So as noted earlier, I came in for a takeout order. Immediately when seated the bartender asks me what I’m in for and I say takeout. He then proceeded to not address me for 7 minutes… so much for takeout. Then after this time when I say my order, nachos, I was met with “are you sure?” in a snarky manner, as if I didn’t just have 7 minutes to decide on my order and as if I didn’t think To Go nachos might be a little messy… this is a national chain, and again, I was waiting 7 minutes just to place my order that I wanted quickly, I think I know what I want at that point. Bartender then tries to say he’ll ask for everything to be separate in the box… I said no I don’t want that, I just want the nachos normal as I will eat them right away. Bartender then tries to make a some joke about how it’s a safe space, so I could eat there… at this point I was so fed up with the amount of energy it was taking to place a simple order for nachos, I Apologized to the bartender, then left. -2 stars

If I were to place money, I would bet the bartender is a good person, and part of the interaction was them just trying to be fun/helpful, but this was too much. There’s a line between good service and doing too much. Too much was being done when all I wanted was something quick to go. In the end, I left hungry and upset, and this condados location was left without business from a customer.

I recommend 2 things for this location Just have your FOH staff at the entrance handle takeout orders. There exists a world where I still get food from this location if this was all I had to do. A few months ago, we stopped at Condado in Donelson after a baseball tournament. Our experience was out-of-this-world from the moment we walked in the door. We were greeted by who could be my most favorite host I've ever encountered, and I believe they went by Q. We had a table that included 6 kids and 7 adults. We had a lot of questions and modifications to menu items, and our server, Teagan, was so understanding and really took her time with us. There was even a moment where we knew we needed to make a request to her, and discussed amongst ourselves that it would probably really irritate her as a server. Did it? Not one bit, or at least not in any way that she showed! Our food was so good. I personally had a Swole Bowl and the red cabbage was an unexpected delight amongst the other ingredients. It really elevated the dish to the next level and I can't wait to have it again! The queso was also fantastic. We were excited to learn that there is a location in Franklin, which is closer to our home, so we can visit again soon because it is so unlike other restaurants around. Our overall experience was so good that as we paid our checks, we asked Teagan to please have a manager come speak with us so we could compliment the host, her, and our entire experience at their restaurant. I was with a group of seven adults and six kids after a day of baseball a couple months ago. We were planning to go elsewhere, but they couldn't accommodate our group. We called ahead and Condado assured us they'd take care of us. The host was phenomenal and SO welcoming. The kind of person you immediately want to be friends with. Our server was also awesome from beginning to end, especially with the kids! Our food runner was kind of awful, but we addressed it with the manager when we complimented the host and server later in the night and it wasn't bad enough to even somewhat cancel out the rest of our positive experience. A variety of food was ordered at our table and all of it was DELICIOUS! (Even all the kids agreed, and we know how rare that is.) The atmosphere is fun and eclectic and we'll happily go back when baseball takes us out that way again! As an added bonus, when I was coming to write this review, I couldn't remember the name of the host or server, so I decided to call the store to ask. Unfortunately, both of them have left to further their careers, but the manager I spoke to, Xavier, was a delight! You can tell he likes his job and truly appreciates his customers.
