I had one of the most embarrassing nights of my life last night and it all felt racially motivated. I was ignored by not 1 but 2 bartenders. They literally stared right past my friend and I and asked the people next to us TWICE if they needed anything. Both my friend and I work in the service industry, it was hard not to take it personally. We should have left then but we signed up for comedy and wanted to be supportive. Later, I watched the owner kick out/ berate my friends with a PBR in her hand. There was an arguement over a Nazi salute joke. Guess who's side she was on? She was screaming at the show host, everyone on the porch (but mostly the black people), and escalated an entire situation with such unprofessionalism. It all happened so fast, I was stunned. The obvious joy she was getting off of kicking my friends out and yelling at them from the porch was sickening. She was drinking but that does not excuse her behavior. Dee's does not want to have a comedy night or people of color. I know I'm not welcome and will not be back so...
Read moreOverall I liked the place. I will def be back. It had old school 70's-80's decor. I took my mom to check it out. I like all music so I was good, but the band playing seemed to focus on original stuff that wasn't country at all. No one knew a single song, so the vibe was a very mellow. Again, I was good, but I think with Country being in the name of the place, my mom was expecting more country music ; which I do agree. I feel a great 70's-90's country band would solidify the vibe here. Play music people know so they can sing along and get happy. Granted it was a weeknight, so to be fair, I'll give it a visit on the weekend, and I look forward to it. I'm glad to see a live venue in Madison and hope this place is supported and kicks a**. I'll update my review after...
Read moreThis is everything you want in a dive bar: Retro vibe. Cool people. Friendly bartenders. Good music. Additionally, the food and cocktails are actually pretty good! Up until recently, they had a Chicago centric menu, including Old-style (which, tbh, is pretty awful, but it does make me nostalgic for Chicago). I've seen people complain about too many hipsters, but I haven't experienced that (and even if I did it wouldn't bother me). Most of the people I've talked to at the bar have been plumbers, and roofers, and basically...
