East Side Bahnmi has quickly become my go-to spot for a tantalizing Vietnamese dining experience right at my doorstep in East Nashville. As a new resident of the neighborhood, discovering this hidden gem on Uber Eats has been an absolute delight. From their aromatic Vietnamese iced coffee to their extensive vegetarian-friendly menu, this place has completely won me over.
First and foremost, let's talk about the Vietnamese iced coffee – it's simply divine. Rich, bold, and perfectly balanced, this creamy elixir offers a delightful jolt of caffeine that perfectly complements the vibrant flavors of their dishes.
Speaking of dishes, the menu at East Side Bahnmi offers a plethora of options that cater to vegetarians like myself. It's refreshing to find a place that pays equal attention to its vegetarian offerings. The tofu bahn mi has quickly become a personal favorite. The combination of the soft and flavorful tofu, paired with the crispy baguette and the harmonious blend of pickled vegetables and herbs, creates a symphony of flavors that simply bursts in your mouth. It's a true testament to their commitment to creating exceptional vegetarian options.
But it doesn't stop there; the impossible rice and noodle bowls are equally remarkable. The marriage of the flavorful Impossible meat with the fragrant rice or delicate noodles is a match made in heaven. The depth of flavors, the freshness of the ingredients, and the careful balance of textures create a truly memorable dining experience.
I must make a special mention of the impossible sticks that come with the noodle bowl – they are out of this world. Bursting with savory umami flavors and boasting a perfect crispy exterior, these sticks are an absolute delight. They add an extra layer of indulgence to an already impressive dish. If only East Side Bahnmi would sell these sticks separately, I would gladly indulge in them on their own.
Overall, East Side Bahnmi has left an indelible impression on me. Their commitment to quality, attention to detail, and exquisite flavors make them a standout in the realm of bahn mi. I wholeheartedly give them a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. Whether you're a vegetarian or a meat lover, East Side Bahnmi is a must-try destination for those seeking an unforgettable Vietnamese...

Read moreThe baguette is excellent and freshly baked. You can see each piece of their menu being made. The pate is made in house which I highly appreciate. I ordered a #1 combination at approximately $12 for a bahn mi which makes it the most expensive Bahn mi I've ever purchased. However, I value the fact that they work so hard on making each ingredient by hand and was very excited to bite into it. It was also a pretty big sandwich.
The first bite was completely overtaken by the smokiness of their smoked ham(?). I felt like I was eating a thick piece of bacon, which is not what I associate with a typical combination bahn mi. I had about 3 bites before I had to set it down. I couldn't even appreciate the pate with the overwhelming smoky flavour. It wasn't until about an hour later that I tried another bite. This time, I could taste all the flavours and it was good. The baguette was still perfectly crispy and the ratio of pickled vegetables and cilantro was perfect. They were a little heavy on the pate, but I enjoyed that.
I wouldn't come here looking for traditional, which is what I was kind of expecting. Instead, it's an interesting blend of Southern Style and Vietnamese cuisine. I can see what they were aiming for. I would give this restaurant another try in the future but I don't think I would order another...
