If I’m being honest, this is one of my favorite restaurants in East. It might not be a fine dining restaurant, or somewhere with staple items, but it delivers in all categories with high marks. To start, I believe the servers name was Danielle? I’m not sure. Every time I’m in there, she greets me with a smile, and shares her great knowledge of the menu all while being timely with service! Props to her! If you want a full meal for a great price, the Shinguru is an amazing choice. Not pictured is the miso soup (which is NOT the poorly executed version prepared at other restaurants), a salad, and then a random creation of whatever the chef has in mind for your roll. The roll is large, imagine 2 rolls put together with crispy toppings, as seen on mine. To wrap up my analysis of the food, the are extremely considerate of allergies. I asked and the informed me that they use no nuts in the entire restaurant (which I appreciate). The atmosphere is underrated. Usually there is a mix of some house or edm remixes that fit the lively vibe. If you’re looking for a quick meal in a great environment, I would recommend Nomzilla!

I’ve been coming here for 2+ years and while the ownership has recently changed, it’s still amazing. The new owners are long time friends of the previous owner, and they’ve worked together in the past. All of the recipes have been passed along with the sale and many favorites are still available. Initially the new menu didn’t catch my eye, but they listened to the feedback of their customers and added and denoted gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options on the menu. I ate here the first week under new ownership and had some hesitations, but it’s clear they were just getting things off the ground and 6 months later I can attest that it’s just as great as it was before. The new owner was so friendly and excited to hear our feedback and really cares about what customers have to say. That being said, my one request is to bring back Thet’s Noodles :) love this place!

GRATUITY - FORCED I really hate to leave this review this way but I feel it has to be said. Nomzilla has fantastic food and the service was great as well. I have been coming here since you guys opened your doors and have rooted for you even when others did not understand your vision. With that said....ahem...MAKE YOUR GRATUITY REQUIREMENT MORE KNOWN. I eat out a lot with my family which is quite large and every single place has a posted gratuity requirement for large groups at the door, in large print on the menu, and posted at the host station as well as verbally stated when seated. I have no problem paying it when its posted and known before ordering. This is the first place I've been this was not true. It put a bad taste in my mouth in an otherwise usually great experience. You are better than that.

Listen, the food is amazing. We ate every morsel on our plates, and everything was absolutely delicious. But the service was horrible. We were 1 of 5 tables in the whole restaurant for dinner on a Wednesday night. No one at the bar, pretty dead inside. No one talked to us at our table for 20 minutes, and I’m not exaggerating. When someone finally got to us, it was a dry “ready to put something in?” No hi hey hello. Not even curious about getting drinks started for us. No greeting, no manners, no interest in us at all. We were very clearly an annoyance despite how friendly and cheerful we were. I’m in the service industry, and so is my friend I was with, so we’re very patient and understanding to staffing issues, bad days, etc. We don’t get bothered when places are clearly SLAMMED and stuff takes a long time or orders get messed up. Again, we’re both servers and have had those nights. But we sat there kinda bewildered at how awful the service was and how dead it was inside. We kept telling eachother to be patient and understanding, but were pretty frustrated with how long it took someone to get to us, and then not even getting a drink order. After putting in some apps, we had to flag someone down to get a drink order in. Again, absolutely delicious but the dining experience was awful. No one checked on us after we got our food. Not a single “how is everything? Can you I get you anything else at the moment?” Dropped our apps. Picked up our empty plates. Dropped our sushi. Picked up our plates and dropped the check. Twice they dropped food without saying anything to us and just walked away. We would have spent more money and grabbed another round of drinks, but the experience wasn’t enjoyable at all. No customer service at all, and the main server taking care of us was miserable. I tip 20% regardless because I’m in the industry, and again, understand bad days. But good grief that was really one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve had in a long time. We had an $80 tab at the end, which the food was worth the price, but if you want people to add on $16 for the service, something needs to change in that area. I don’t normally leave reviews, I’m leaving this here in hopes someone in management reads this and can help to make necessary adjustments. Your food is awesome and I will continue supporting your business, but I’m really disappointed in my...

Let me start by saying that I have worked for many years in the service industry, and I have nearly infinite patience for anyone who has ever waited on me, whether undeserved or deserved. I come here frequently enough that I’ve completely lost count of how many times. Every time I come, the service, while friendly, is so slow that I’ve started to time it to make sure I’m not crazy. I don’t think I’ve ever actually posted a Google review before, but tonight was the last straw. I’ve been putting up with service that is so slow that it makes me feel like I am going crazy for years, but tonight, both the server and the manager attempted to gaslight me into believing that a particular roll had always had the tails left on every single piece of shrimp inside that roll, not just on the ends. Sure, I’ve ordered that roll so many times that I literally can’t even count or remember, but somehow, I’m only just now noticing that there are tails left on the shrimp all throughout the inside of the roll? I did not appreciate that in the least. To say that I am abundantly patient and overly forgiving with restaurants, service workers, and the various issues that inevitably arise would be the understatement of the century. That is how you know that this is a problem. I’ve never been inclined to post a negative review about any institution, but after putting up with egregiously slow service this whole time and then gaslit into believing that I’m just crazy- “this roll has always come this way, you’re wrong”-...

Well, I’m torn here. Because, the vegetarian sushi was superb! And the cocktail with that pepper in the ice cube was great as well. I enjoyed that part of the meal for sure! But then, I was still hungry so I ordered the fried tofu. I asked specifically for mild on the chili (even tho I loveee spicy, I know that restaurants tend to make it too spicy sometimes) but when it arrived it was SOOOO spicy that I couldn’t put it in my mouth. I told this to the waitress but she didn’t offer to take it back and try to fix it, or otherwise not charge me for it. Even though she clearly saw that I didn’t eat any of it. So I ended up taking it in a box and planning on fixing it at home with some creamy sauce to calm down the heat. Now it’s the next day and I made the sauce and guess what - even with tons of milk and cream it’s still too spicy to eat , and more so , it burned my tongue!!! I’m sitting here with yogurt on my tongue. For real. I don’t know what spice they used but it’s not chili, it’s something else and they clearly don’t know how much of it to use. It’s dangerous. So, until that tofu incident I would’ve given 5 stars. After it I want to give 1 star and get my money back or some type of compensation. But ending up with 2 stars to be courteous. I hope you guys make it right though because that’s a real bummer on the otherwise...
