Edley’s is a long-time favorite and the place I both recommend and bring out of town guests to visit! I’ve eaten at a number and they are all great, but my Edley’s is in Lenox Village! The quality is unmatched—- I’ve tried a dozen other BBQ places and every meat at Edley’s surpasses others! In fact, a number of places here in Nashville use liquid or powdered smoke flavors which are very strong, and leave an acrid chemical taste in the mouth! Edley’s smoked meats don’t have that—they brine simply and allow slow smoking to give the flavor! Their sides are also superlative: the greens and green beans are cooked just right, neither soggy nor chewy but smoky with spice; the baked beans are tangy, with a smoky flavor from meat bits; the slaw has a sweet and sour vinaigrette like my Mom’s; the street corn is savory and sweet; the Mac and cheese is rich and flavorful; and the potato salad has an abundance of bacon with a ranch mayo dressing…. Even the desserts are great! I’m partial to the chess pie!
But just as important as the food is the atmosphere and attentive service. Employees go out of their way to respond to special requests…and to ensure every order is correct, and in the rare case something isn’t, they more than make it right! Recently a special request of mine on a busy Friday, which I know must have caused extra work, time and trouble, was seen to by the GM, Elaina, who just went all out!!!! It says a lot when the General Manager is greeting guests, taking out food and attending to requests—Edley’s is rightly proud of their food and restaurant model and that’s one reason why they should be!
Highly recommend! And the ONLY suggestion I have is for their wonderful bean dishes to be on the menu more frequently! If you’ve ever had their boiled beans or black eyed peas you know what I’m talking about!!!!! They are so good I’d like to eat them...
Read moreMy son and I were traveling through Tn...with a short stop in Nashville area. Having lived in Texas for many years...we know good bbq. Just wanted to preface that. Upon entering the restaurant...we were immediately greeted with great smiles...and plenty of suggestions. My son and I both ordered and took a seat to wait for food. The ambiance was great. Ordered some beer from the very pleasant and knowledgeable bartender who made excellent recommendations. So we get the food. Let me just say this again...we know bbq. The food was presented perfectly and without getting too deep in the weeds...everything was absolutely amazing! Ya know...sometimes you get some bbq where a few things are great or good...but not everything is the star. That isn't the case here...everything we ate was absolutely a hitter...and I mean they didn't miss anywhere. All the proteins were straight out of this world...and every side was equally amazing. So that's the food part. AMAZING! So...I decided to ask for the manager so I could compliment the food and establishment. The manager (Brian) greeted us and was very happy that we loved it. Now here is where great went to...freakin great. Brian listened intently to our comments...then went and got his entire crew to praise them in front of us...taking zero compliments for his management...and gave all the praise to his team. Having spent 30 years in military...I was just really impressed. To the owner of this establishment...kudos to you. You created a great atmosphere...served amazing food...and hired an top notch staff. Really can't say enough. If you are looking for the absolute best...this is the place. Trust me...you won't be disappointed! We will DEFINITELY BE...
Read moreI'm a Texas boy... in Texas, brisket is king, but I do love me some pulled pork and ribs. I live in Montana now where good bbq is the unicorn, unless I smoke it myself. This was my first trip to the Nashville area, and I wanted to find some good Q. My wife and I ordered the sampler platter for 3-4 people, knowing we'd take home some leftovers, but I wanted to 'sample' several items, so this was our ticket. The Ribs were very good. Good flavor, tender and meaty. I am not a huge fan of wet ribs, but they just kind of drizzled sauce over them, and the sauce was good. The pulled pork was amazing, Fantasticly seasoned, and the portion was substantial. I warily ordered the brisket since Tennessee is more of a pork state, but to my pleasant surprise, the brisket was flavorful, had a nice bark, and was so tender that it fell apart if you tried to get a big piece on a fork. Not Texas brisket, but very good. I'd definitely order it again. Our sides were Cole slaw, baked beans, Mac n cheese and banana pudding for dessert. Corn bread came with the platter. We ate hoecakes at a different local q joint, and we were not terribly impressed, but Edley's cornbread was made with jalapeños and red peppers... just how I imagine cornbread should be.
I wanted the best Q Nashville has to offer. I couldn't possibly try all of the Q restaurants in town in the amount of time we have. Edleys was the 2nd on our list, and I feel like with Edleys, Nashville was represented...
