ICHIBAN JAPANESE CUISINE — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

Writing a review is not something that I normally do, but after our experience at this restaurant, I felt the need to do so. This may have been the worst dining experience I have ever had.

First off, the drink menu had multiple options to choose from, yet we were basically told what we had to order due to a lack of inventory. We ended up ordering white wine, which was served at room temperature.

The server brought us the wrong appetizer, forgot to bring the soups and salads we had ordered, and completely forgot to take our order for the main dishes—we had to flag them down just to place it. When our meals finally arrived, two of the four were served ten minutes before the third, and the fourth meal never came at all. The server blamed the kitchen staff for being slow even though we had to keep reminding them that we were waiting for the dish. One of us walked near the grill where the food was being prepared to find that they were packing up for the night and not cooking the food at all.

After all of this, the server was at least nice enough to remove the food we never received...

We ordered food for pickup. As soon as we arrived the woman at the front started yelling at us not to be inside. She shoved us out the door and pointed at a pickup window with signs plastered all over it saying “Delivery drivers wait here” and “Don’t ask how long your order will take”. We weren’t delivery drivers, how were we suppose to know to wait there?

So we stood in the front entrance for 5 min. waiting for someone to acknowledge us, all the while I could see our order sitting at a booth about 5 feet from us, getting cold. She finally comes over and hands us our order with a ticket taped on front. I said thank you and started to turn away (it was already paid for). Then she starts screaming at us again “I need ticket! Ticket! Give it!” So I grabbed the order ticket and handed it to her and she stormed off. Rudest woman I’ve ever met.

The hibachi chicken and the sushi was decent. The chicken teriyaki was rubbery and still pink so we had to throw it out. I’d be willing to give the place another shot if it weren’t for the terrible...

I got take out from here on a Sunday night. I’m feeling pretty mixed about what I got. I got a salmon maki roll, the Spicy Spider roll, shrimp fried rice, crab rangoons, and a side order of steak (4 oz). The sushi rolls were both okay and I’d probably choose another place for sushi in the future. I could see myself trying different rolls if I were to go back. The shrimp fried rice was good with a good amount of shrimp, but I could have used a little more flavor with it. The crab rangoons and the steak were both so yummy! If I were to go back I’d probably get one or both of them. The crab rangoons were crunchy and creamy. The steak was good really well and so soft.
