The food was OK. Felt like eating at your cousin's house, like they patted out a burger but the rest was frozen or premade storebought. Shredded lettuce on a burger is a sign of cut corners at a big chain like McDonald's, pretty wild to see it at a place like this. The burger also had a hint of seafood.
The BBQ chicken wrap had no BBQ in it, that's served cold on the side. Very weird. Also no bacon like I thought the menu said. The wrap itself was kind of like a subway chicken teriyaki sandwich. Not appealing at all.
The sidewinders might be made in house, but they seem more like frozen and have the consistency of a reconstituted mashed potato. And those cost extra. But I also got a stray crinkle fry on my plate, and they're definitely frozen. Can't really recommend either one.
The service was friendly but seemed kind of passive aggressive maybe? We had never been there and didn't know what we wanted immediately when our drinks came out 30 seconds after we got there. 45 seconds after that, we still weren't sure, and I guess that was our last chance without flagging them down. She walked past our table many times and paid us no attention, and I assumed she was just busy with togo boxes and checking out and waiting until she could write/remember our order. But then we finally did wave her down (which we had to clarify we wanted to order now, despite feeling rushed a few minutes earlier), and she put her hand on her hip as she waited for us to inconvenience her with our order... which she entered into a handheld device immediately on the spot and then left. I don't understand why we had to wait so long for that or flag her down after only wanting a minute to look at the menu. But then she said "it'll be right out" and didn't seem as annoyed by us anymore... for the time being.
The food came out pretty fast. It matched the menu aside from the lack of bacon and the fact that the BBQ chicken wrap is apparently just putting a cup of BBQ beside another chicken wrap or something like that. Can't fault the kitchen for serving what's on the menu.
Our server checked on us once but didn't refill drinks. Then we had been done for quite a while with dishes stacked to the side, and she kept going past us again. Finally we flagged her down again and she seemed unsure of what we might want, so we asked for the check. It came out immediately and we left.
We also noticed all other tables around us seemed to get plenty of attention, so either they're regulars with preferential treatment or they knew what they wanted before they sat down. Either way, not the best dining experience and probably wouldn't recommend anyone giving it a shot...
Read moreWe hadn't been to JB's Pour House in a couple years so we were looking forward to lunch there today. I checked the reviews and they were all over the place. After eating, it's easy to see why there was no consensus on the reviews. Our experience ranged from bad to great.
We were seated immediately and our server, Jodie, came to our table right away to get drink orders. About a third of the tables were full and there were plenty of servers. Lots of TVs and a good sports bar atmosphere.
I read through the many reviews and was surprised to find so many people saying great things and so many people saying bad things. Based on what I saw in the reviews, I ordered the bang bang shrimp and mac and cheese. We also ordered a kid's sausage pizza and boneless chicken wings with fries.
Jodie did a good job of checking on us but our order took over 30 minutes to come out. That seemed very unreasonable since there wasn't a crowd and there seem to be plenty of workers.
The shrimp was bad. It had way too much breading and it was dry from being over-cooked. I didn't eat it. Really disappointed since so many people had said the shrimp was their favorite thing. On the other hand, the mac and cheese was great. Really great.
The boneless wings were really good. Other places make boneless wings which are 90% breading and almost no chicken. These were really good chicken breast with just the right amount of breading. Good hot sauce which was not so hot as to overpower the chicken.
The kids pizza was fine. Nothing special.
The french fries were interesting. We ended up with two orders of fries and while both were good, one was medium rare and the other was medium well. Just another bit of inconsistency.
Jodie was apologetic for the bad shrimp and quickly said she'd take it off the bill. She also had the manager come check on us so I was impressed with how they handled it. But the bottom line is still that the experience was not good enough to return. We won't be going back to JB's Pour House...
Read moreWe stopped in Nashville to sleep on our cross country road trip and we were absolutely beat. We needed something to eat and everywhere was closed for some reason at 7pm on a Monday. But thank god JB’s was open and boy was it so worth it.
First off, the ladies were absolutely wonderful. They were very nice and gave me great recommendations to order for take out to bring back to my wife. For one meal I got 1/3 rack of ribs, grilled chicken, hush puppies, and loaded tater tots all for $21. And everything was delicious. The tater tots were amazing. The ribs were fall of the bone and I loved the bbq sauce. We’ve never had hush puppies before and we loved them. So crispy and tasty. We also got an order of brisket nachos. They were really good. The chips got a little soggy because I took them back to our Airbnb, but the brisket was so delicious. So tender, well seasoned, and very juicy. And then the waitress recommended I get the bacon cheeseburger salad with thousand island dressing and let me tell you how worth it that was. She split it into two take out containers because I mentioned I was sharing with my wife and I’m so thankful. It was fantastic. The cheeseburger was also seasoned nicely, juicy, perfectly cooked, and all of the toppings made the salad an excellent choice.
All of our food plus tax and tip was $60.
Please give JB’s some love if you’re in Nashville....
