Korea House: The last home cooked meal in Nashville.
You don’t just eat at Korea House. You sit down and you become part of something bigger — a family, an unspoken tradition, a secret that only locals are lucky enough to know. Tucked in Nashville, where hot chicken and country music reign supreme, this place feels like a portal into the heart of Seoul. And at its center is a matronly figure, a force of nature really, who hovers over the tables like a mother tending to her hungry children. She doesn’t just serve food, she nurtures, refills bowls of steaming rice, and makes sure you’ve had enough kimchi before she lets you leave.
The dining room feels like you’ve stepped into someone’s home — simple, unpretentious, a bit worn around the edges in the best possible way. The kind of place where the smell of garlic, fermented chili, and simmering broths cling to your clothes when you walk out, a badge of honor for having been let in. You don’t come here for modern decor or Instagram moments. You come here for the food — the soul-satisfying, home-cooked, no-frills Korean classics that make you wonder why you’ve ever settled for anything else.
The bibimbap arrives sizzling in a stone pot, rice crackling at the bottom, topped with vibrant vegetables and a runny egg that you stir into an orchestra of flavor. The galbi is tender, perfectly marinated, falling off the bone with the kind of care only a home cook, not a corporate kitchen, can manage. And don’t even get me started on the banchan — those endless little plates of pickled, fermented goodness that just keep coming.
Korea House isn’t just a restaurant. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel human again, that reminds you why we gather around tables and share meals in the first place. It’s a must for anyone who finds themselves in Nashville, seeking comfort and authenticity in a city that’s too often...
Read moreI arrived here for a business lunch early afternoon. Very clean and well appointed interior. The hot tea was good on a 29 degree day and the menu is extensive. I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap - a very hot stone bowl with rice topped with warm veggies and Tofu (or beef is available) with a fried egg. My client had Chicken Bulgogi - sliced barbecue chicken breast with cooked veggies. We also were presented with an assortment of small dishes of Kimchi, marinated cucumbers, potatoes and three other tasty appetizers that are served with Entrees. All of the dishes and small appetizers were excellent and the Entrees have very good portions. A Korean sweet and mildly spicy sauce is served with every meal and adds a good flavor to dishes. We were afraid to try it at first glance but a friendly Asian lady seated next to us said it is a typical mild Korean sauce. We were disappointed that there was no lunch menu and Entree prices range at $15.99 up to $27.99. However, there is a range of Entrees for two up to $43.99. Appetizers range from $6.99 up to $26.99. Dishes served in a stone bowl stay very hot and one should beware of this and stir the rice on the bottom with the other ingredients. The menu states that vegetarian options are available on many of the dishes. Overall, we both had a great lunch here and I plan to...
Read moreA popular spot that really lives up to it's reputation. Every single dish was so delicious I'd go back and order everything again happily. However that would mean I'd miss out on trying all the other menu options! It's an extensive list making this a solid choice for multiple return visits. The location is very unassuming in a strip mall. It is also very small. Not much atmosphere but that's ok it's comfortable and cozy in an unassuming way. We arrived with a group of 8 and had to wait at the bar next door for enough folks to leave for them to put some tables together and this was a random Tuesday. I would not go with a group larger than 4. They do not take reservations or wait-list. That said everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The service was also super fast and the food comes out quick and screaming hot. Obviously hot pots are a great choice but I loved my mackerel dish. It was salty meaty fish that really hit the spot. The seafood pancake was a great accompaniment and also makes a wonderful app for the table given it's crazy large size. They have a small beer selection, a little bit of hot and cold sake, and soju plain and with fruit flavors. You really can't go wrong here and they deserve...
