When asked if you had to chose your last meal today, what would you choose my answer 6/7 days of the week is pho (I will occasionally respond street tacos if I am moody).
That being said, I consider myself a pho connoisseur and make it a point to find the best pho in a city. Having recently moved to Nashville I have just begun that journey and this is the third place I have been to so far (Pho Annes, Saigon Palace, and now here). In terms of the pho alone, this was the best so far. When considering ambiance, and if you are eating at the restaurant, I would say Pho Annes would be the better pick.
Ambiance: 1/5, very small, not the cleanest, TV was crazy loud, but really seems like a take out place anyways. but pho is not about the ambiance for me its purely for the food. Would recommend just doing take out, problem solved.
Pho:
Broth: 5/5, he even gave it cold rather than reheating then us again reheating at home meat: 4/5, large amount was given so thats a bonus noodles: 5/5, not overcooked, reheated perfectly To-go packaging: 4/5 (everything packed well and tight but no hoisin sauce/chili oil was given on side) Pricing: 5/5
Bahn Mi: Bread: 3/5 slightly soggy by the time we got home (10 min drive) Pickles: 3/5, cucumber was not pickled and quantity was small meat: 2/5, very small amount not super flavorfull price: 5/5 - was 4-5$
Cons: no cha gio (crispy rolls) on menu, bahn mi was slightly soggy and not much meat at all but very cheap, mainly a take-out only place, only 1 type of pho (beef)
pros: very reasonably priced - bahn mi was like 4-5$ and pho 13$, large amount, well packaged, broth had incredible flavor
Overall this was my favorite pho so far but definitely a to-go only sort of place with very limited menu. Will 100% be going back and as long as im not in the mood for cha goi this will be...
Read moreI always go here for their banh mi and their banh tet thit and banh chung.
The banh mi is great! I think it's a perfect size for the price. They're not as big as some other banh mis you might find around (those are more expensive), but I think they're perfect as they are; I like to finish my banh mis in one sitting anyway. They sell them Buy 5 get 1 free at $5 each (2023 prices, may rise with inflation), so for $25+tax you basically get lunch for the entire week. There are a ton of options too. It's my go to when I know I have a busy week coming up and limited time to make food!
They also sell a lot of things you can't find anywhere else. Banh tet thit and banh chung being some of those. It's absolutely delicious and everything I was looking for. I'm super glad this place exists in Nashville, otherwise I'd be forced to try to learn how to make these tough dishes all by myself.
They keep the place very neat and clean, but the ambiance doesn't really lend itself super well as a dine-in place. I love it as a place to quickly pick up some pre-prepped banh tet thit and banh chung from their fridge, while waiting a few minutes for them to prep your banh mi (they're fast!). I bring those home, store my haul of banh mi in the fridge and when I'm ready, heat it up in the oven until the bread is a little crispy, then stuff in the veggies they sometimes package on the side for you when they know you're not eating all of them right away. I also store the banh tet thit and banh chung in my fridge, then cut it up and heat it in the microwave when I am ready to eat those. Usually all gone within the week!
Going here is my dose of happiness, I love this...
Read moreWent here because of the amazing reviews we read but left the place disappointed. The place is filthy, fingerprints on the soup ladle(spoon?), floor and tables felt sticky, a guy came out of the kitchen with flour all over his shirt and wiped the table with a dirty rag, they got my order wrong, the bun rieu was too oily, not sure what kind of meat they put, the meatball(crab?) was obviously stale, odd sickly green discoloration and the tofu had a weird ashy taste, The vegetable they give for Pho was not fresh, the onions were discolored due to oxidation we thought they were fried at first. They need to do a thorough quality control on their supplies and scrub that place down to oblivion, they need to have that place inspected by health inspector... I'm gonna go get tested for whatever food borne illness I might...
