So I decided on this place after seeing the bad reviews for bonfire and I kinda wished I had tried that one instead. I ordered the veggie rice bowl the veggie bao dumplings and the orange lemongrass peach tea and was looking forward to it all very much. So let me start with the good. The tea was delicious. I highly recommend it. I would possibly come back and just order that. Refreshing an ok amount with fresh orange and peaches (albeit from the can) and a lot of ice that all took up a lot of space in the cup. But still tasty. Now for the bowl. Bland White rice and steamed veggies with sauce haphazardly thrown in. Definitely not enough veggies for the rice luckily the veggies were fresh but again hardly enough. The flavor was only in the sauce and there was quite enough of the either. The soy sauce egg was ok but they only give you half the egg and it did not give enough flavor to go around so another disappointing thing there. The most disappointing thing was the tofu. It was just sliced and put in. Not fried or anything it seemed. Maybe just heated up slightly. The texture of the tofu was gross and almost made the bowl inedible. I asked them if they would fry but they rudely told me no there was nothing they could do and walked away. I really wanted my money back at that point. I was hesitant to try the seared dumpling by this point. It had a green dot on it. I later found out that this was how they identified the different types of dumplings, I think it must have been a food coloring or something. The dumpling was pretty flavorless on the outside the veggies were once again just OK I definitely would not recommend and I would not order that again. All in all they really are only getting two stars because of the tea being pretty good, I definitely would not go back here and I would highly recommend if you are looking for some flavorful food that you choose somewhere else to go. If only they would have fried my tofu I probably wouldn’t have even left this review....
Read moreOur lunch at Steam Boys in Hermitage, Tennessee, proved to be a swift and satisfying experience. Seating was readily available, and the ordering process, where you place your orders at the counter and receive table service, added a distinctive touch to the dining dynamic.
Exploring the diverse menu, we indulged in three dishes, all surpassing expectations in flavor and quality. My inclination towards spiciness led me to order two fiery dishes, and indeed, they delivered on the promised heat, elevating the overall culinary adventure.
However, a minor hiccup occurred with the Thai iced tea. While enjoyable, its slightly elevated price was accentuated by an additional dollar for blending, making it a relatively pricier choice. Subjectivity aside, a $7 Thai tea blend might be perceived as on the higher side by some patrons.
On the positive side, the establishment maintained cleanliness, and the efficiency in delivering hot and delectable dishes showcased their commitment to a quality dining experience. Convenient parking added to the overall ease of the visit.
In summary, Steam Boys offers a swift and palatable lunch experience with a distinctive ordering approach, flavorful delights, and noteworthy dishes. While pricing aspects may vary in personal perspective, the overall combination of flavors, service, and ambiance makes it a recommendable stop in...
Read moreWent twice to this location. First time it took 45 mins to receive our food and we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. Nonetheless, we had a good attitude and were eager to try the food. The boba was amazing!! But the beef bao was soggy and frozen in the middle. The pho was okay but they wanted to charge us $2 for an extra lime. There was also only 2 pieces of brisket in the pho. Second time we went, we didn’t receive our boba for 30 mins. The pho had a huge piece of plastic in it (picture attached) and when we brought it up to the cashiers attention, she was helpful. However, there was a younger girl there who had a bad attitude from the beginning. After we received a refund for the plastic infested pho, the young girl with glasses and a black beanie came up to us as we were still by our table and told us “make sure you put the dishes in the dirty dish bin.” Mind you, we were not even leaving yet, and her attitude was terrible. Then we said okay and acknowledged it despite having another worker take our plates off the table the previous time. She then walked behind the cashier and began talking loudly about us and saying very ugly things. She seemed to be miserable which made us feel bad for her. Overall, this location is very mediocre with terrible service. I’m sure a different location may be better, but I’m just turned off from Steam Boys as a whole...
