The Amsterdamian — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

The evening started out fine until the bartender refused to let my friend switch spirits for her cocktail, then when I requested that the margarita have less sugar he tried to mansplain how a drink should be made. Then when I just asked him for a tequila soda he said we needed to leave. I had ordered food and he threw the receipt on the table, into my food, then when I gave him two separate cards to close the check, he charged my card solely and for the food that he took away from me before I was even able to eat it, stating that I complained that he touched it and that he didn’t have to go boxes. I have never been to a more pretentious place in my entire life, and I used to work in the yachting industry, and I work for A level musicians. The bartender was a wee man who spoke in octaves far below his voice and had a complex about anyone just having a drink of their choice that wasn’t based on his menu. When I told him that it was my drink and it was OK for me to modify it he told me “it may be your drink, but it’s my menu”. Customer service is key. All he had to do was say OK no problem and make me my drink, not explain how things needed to be. It’s not your way or the highway. I will never go back there. I will never recommend it to my friends. There are 1 000,000 cocktail bars in East Nashville, and Nashville, that are far more deserving of your money. The olives came straight from a package. They didn’t warm them, the toasty was probably fine until he stole it from my table pre-bite. Zero stars, zero tip and I will be disputing it with my credit...

What a find! Located in East Nashville, we ventured into the Amsterdamian unsure of what our experience would be. It’s a discrete entrance in a small building next to a pizza shop. When you walk in you’re transported into another world!

This little cocktail lounge has a super chill vibe with the bar giving subtle shoutouts to one of my favorite cities, Amsterdam ♥️ There’s cute little couches and chairs to have some nice convo with friends and those you love all while sipping some amazing cocktails!!

I got the What’s My Sage Again which was super refreshing herbaceous and citrusy with gin, sage, peach 🍑 and lime 🍋‍🟩 It was an absolute dream! CL got Amalfitano, a citrusy gin old fashioned 🥃

The cocktails.. on point! Absolutely recommend this place. The bartender was great and matched the vibe. I wish we had gotten his name but we were so impressed with the little gem we were sitting in we didn’t make much small talk other than drink recommendations.

They also have a few mocktails and snacks available. We were headed to dinner for our next stop so we didn’t try anything but we definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some good cocktails...

As a former regular of the Amsterdamian, I felt it necessary to finally be vocal and share my experience at the Amsterdamian . Unfortunately, the co-owner made inappropriate and unwanted advances towards me, which significantly impacted my visit. This behavior is unacceptable and made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Following these unwarned advances the co-owner’s wife messaged me on instagram and yelled at me for these unwanted advances. While the atmosphere of the bar was otherwise pleasant and the former bartenders were very professional and friendly, this incident overshadowed the entire experience. I hope that the management takes immediate action to address this serious issue to ensure the safety and well-being of all patrons.
