This is my experience I had today as an Ubereats driver for a customer: So I go to pick up the order and it's not ready (not that big of a deal). I wait and eventually I'm handed two bags by one of the employees. There was another bag on the counter that I watched another associate set down with the bags I was given. I ask if the order is just the two bags she was handing me while glancing towards the other bag on the counter. She says yes and that the other bag is for a different order, so by this I took her word. She basically had black hair up in a short ponytail, about 5'1" ish in height, had an arched nose bridge, winged black eyeliner, and I believe she might have had ear gauges. I drop the order off at the customer's residence, and 5 minutes after leaving I get a call from the customer informing me that part of their order was missing. Normally I would let uber handle this, as these things do happen, but considering the interaction I just had at The Velvet Taco, and now the customer was going to think I made the mistake, I went back to get the other bag. When I arrived back, I walked up to the counter and felt like the woman who served me was deliberately trying to ignore me. She eventually acknowledged me when another worker asked if I had been helped. Her response to the other worker was, "she (as in myself) was waiting on this order", pointing to the bag.... I understand that mistakes happen, but acting like I was the one who forgot the item when I specifically asked if I had all the items, is pretty low. The male associate making the order offered to remake it but said it would be awhile, considering I had alrealy completed the order, I figured the customer was getting a refund anyway, so I took it and dropped it off at their house. I called uber and let them know about the situation, so I hope the customer's experience was not too bad. There is a stigma that food delivery drivers are not competent, and I'm sure there are some that are not, but that's not all of us. This instance reflects badly on me, even though I didn't do anything wrong. I just want to say that being accountable for mistakes shows a lot about a person's character and the establishment they work for. Seeing as I didn't eat the food, which does smell and look appetizing, I added on one star. However, a restaurants performance is not only about the food. I will probably avoid picking up from here, and might not try the food either because of this experience - I probably just need to give myself time. On a side note, I did receive a notification that other customers have reported wrong or missing items on my app from here. It's just a chance I cannot afford to take again at this time. Hopefully it's just a hiccup/rocky start since...
Read moreI was a skeptic when it came to my first time coming here. I'm a simple guy, and all the fancy ingredients and aioli sauces I had never heard of were hard for me to get with. However, after trying a couple today, I must say DAMN!! The Tikka Chicken Tacos are amongst some of the best chicken tacos I have ever eaten in my 42 years. The sauce on the strips is sublime. I've been thinking of coming back every since the first time, and today I was able to. They are just as good as I had remembered. I won't speak on anything else because I haven't had anything, but as long as these are on the menu, I'll be coming back as much as I can. The queso is great also as a side. I recommend the WTF combo. You get 2 tacos, a side, and a fountain drink for about 16 bucks with tax!! We need good food like this, and I hope they get to stick around!!
Ps. My 1 complaint is going to be an issue, not with Velvet taco per se, but with this "TIP" menu as you pay. It prompts you for a variety of tips or not to at all. It's just unnecessary and adds a uncomfortableness to the whole experience because I feel obligated to give something. My 16 dollar meal ended up costing me over 19. I want everyone to get paid, but these are hourly wage employees, and I don't understand the tip question. Again, I don't want to take away from the food, but this tip, your cashier fad needs to go away. Just don't prompt me while I pay. If I want to or can tip. Just leave on a receipt or a little jar by the register. Otherwise, great food and I...
Read moreVelvet Taco would have received a much better rating if customer service was at the top of their list. I was there on 6/7/25, and a simple additional order was addressed very rudely by the manager present... whereas an experienced manager focused on the customer would have known how to handle the request appropriately. Let me explain. They offer shots of Grand Marnier for their margaritas, which I did not know and was not offered at the register. Apparently my daughter was offered and when I received my food and spoke to my daughter I went back to the register to request a shot of Grand Marnier and was told "no" by the manager (with an attitude) that it was too late because "it would look like they were just selling shots of liquor". I'm sorry, but if you're selling shots of Grand Marnier for people who buy margaritas, you are selling shots of liquor. Being confused at the attitude and mannerism of the manager, I just said "ok" and walked away. I feel that a mature and seasoned manager would have just said, "Bring your drink back to me, and I can add the shot of Grand Marnier to it... we are talking about $1.75 here!!!" I was taken aback by the unnecessary response so much that I was unable to enjoy my food and discarded it. There are too many other options and places to visit to return and spend my money at ANY place that does not appreciate and respect me and my business.
