Welp, family in town, wanted to show them what Nashville has to offer. Came across Treehouse. Menu and reviews looked great.
1st- Menu item availability. Did my own research on the menu and knew what dishes I was interested in. Well... took a seat and immediately was informed that A) No oysters. Not just one of the 3 the offer. No oysters at all. So that took away a good bit. Understandably, an item like good oysters in Nashville might be tough to come by, I get it. But when they're a whole section on your menu? Moving on, pivot to the Sesame Chicken Katsu app. Nope, not available either. Chicken. Sesame. Hoison Ketchup. "Pretty pickle". Nope, not available. That's legitimately almost a quarter of your menu unavailable on a Friday night. Finally, got to the cocktails. Smoke & Mirrors- no grapefruit juice. No grapefruit juice? Less than a mile away from multiple grocery stores and can't send someone to go buy some grapefruit for one of your signature cocktails at a spot that's tagline is "Passionate Plates & Crafty Cocktails".
2nd- Service. We didn't come at a busy time. Prior to 6:30. Sat immediately prior to our reservation, which was great. Greeted, drink orders were prompt, delivered, food orders taken, never spoke with our server again until it was time for the check. Was going to order another round of drinks but no one asked. No questions about how the food was or anything else. Granted, server was welcoming and responsive when we interacted.
3rd- Food. Beef Tartare. Pile of ground beef. No egg or mushrooms present in any way. Seemed like no seasoning and the only thing that gave it any flavor was the Asiago chips. A little pepper and salt might have helped but no one came by that we could ask for any. At the table we had the duck and chicken. Both proteins were cooked well, but zero texture or much flavor. Upon ordering, I asked the server if the chicken was skin on and he said yes, joked about crunchy skin. Cause who doesn't like a good skin with a crunch. The skin was closer to a wet paper towel than anything that had been more than boiled. Same with the duck. Also, chicken comes with "glazed roots & Wasabi cream"- neither were present. Duck "came with" spicy chickpeas- also not present (on two orders).
I'm not one to post reviews as I've worked in the industry for years and know that sometimes you can't get in certain ingredients, get double/triple sat as a server, cooks are having a (blank) day. Stuff happens. But lack of quality service, lack of main menu items (with a limited menu as it is) and serving food that really doesn't even touch expectations but also is missing items for the prices here? C'mon. "Passionate Plates & Crafty Cocktails"? Missed the mark.
*We were also told there was a "guest chef" that night so who knows what that means and what seemed to be mgmt (guy rocking a suit) showed up to the restaurant around 7:30, bussed our tables quickly and didn't really ask much...
Read moreI was a visitor to Nashville last Thursday when a group of 5 of us ventured out for dinner. We saw a charming place called the Treehouse and thought it looked quaint and decided to try it. The hostess outside was very friendly and up beat and convinced us to come and try this awesome place. So of course how could we refuse.....big mistake! We were showed to our table, which was in the back, outside, beautiful night so all is fine. Unfortunately sitting 5 people around a small picnic table was not ideal and mentioned it to the pretentious tree hugging waitress who really was not interested. Her lack of customer service sucked. The staff made us feel like we were inconveniencing them by being there...hmmmm if you don't want customers then ya should of just locked the doors. The menu was then explained to us that it was family style eating, I asked about the portion size and she told us it was a bit more than what you would get if you were at a tapas restaurant and that the food could be shared. Well at $15-$22 a plate I would hope so! She also mentioned that most people ordered 7-9 dishes to share. So we each ordered something we liked and decided to add some bread to it. Mind you they won't bring out the food all at the same time, she arrived with the bread first...it was burnt to buggery. When the server eventually came back to our table I asked if it was supposed to be this way because we don't really like burnt bread. She then takes the bread back to the kitchen, now she comes back and tells us the chef took a bite out of the bread and told her it was fine and she did not want to bring us anymore bread as it would be the same. You won't even admit that you can't bake a loaf of bread so you try and pass it off as some noveau riche dish. Burnt is burnt and Gordon Ramsey would have given him a right tongue lashing!! Other than the lack of customer service and the burnt bread. The food was rather delicious but over priced for the portion size. I would not recommend going there and I'm sure I won't be returning and by the way Chef my husband is also a chef, unfortunately he was not with us on this trip but I sure wished he...
Read moreI wish I could say that I loved this place; the concept is really fun, however the service we received was abysmal and the average food forced me to write my very first google review. As visitors to Nashville, everyone in my party was looking forward to the experience eating in a treehouse.
Unfortunately, the night started off poorly and never got back on track. The first disappointment of the night came after an innocent mistake parking in a lot not owned by treehouse resulted in one of our cars getting a ticket, we were upset but not at Treehouse. While we were forced to pay the ticket we did not want another innocent group to make the same mistake so we politely suggested that the hostess to inform people entering the restaurant that the parking lot next to their restaurant was a paying lot and that you would get a ticket if you didn't pay immediately. The hostess responded very rudely that it wasn't her's, or the restaurant's, responsibility to warn guests that their cars might get a pricey ticket because of poorly placed signs. I do not agree, please pay attention to the parking signs if you do intend to go to this restaurant.
The second disappointment of the night was that our waiter was slow and down right rude at times to the guests in our party. We had to ask for simple things like ice multiple times before the waiter would even acknowledge our request. One simple request for salt was met with a two minute condescending speech about the seasoning of their food. The food was fine but nothing to write home about.
The final disappointment came when after encouraging us to say for more food and drinks we were asked to leave the treehouse so that another party could come in. This request came as we were taking a couple of pictures to commemorate the evening and paying our checks.
Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone visiting Nashville who is looking for the southern hospitality...
