Al's Hot Dogs — Restaurant in Naugatuck

The food was good but my burger had no pickles. I had requested Xtra pickles on the burger. The prices have nearly doubled and the amount of food given is less compared to previous years. Last year the plater was $9 and today I was charged $16. All websites including allmenus are wrong and the restaurant has not made any attempts to have the prices corrected.

I was picking up a call ahead order and added a few things while we waited. I informed the individual ordering of the price I paid and they had a concern because the amount posted all over the internet, reviews and allmenus.com was significantly more. He then proceeded to call to inquire about the significant difference and was screamed at. I was getting the food at the window with my 7 year old daughter and had to listen to this women barade a customer. Screaming and swearing as loud as she could. It was extremely uncomfortable and my daughter should not be witness to that type of verbal abuse. Neither should her employees. An unsafe work environment and not a family friendly place.

I am sad to say that this place seems to have fallen off. About 10 years ago their food (especially hot dogs) were the best around. Now, they charge triple the price for 1/2 the quality. Milkshakes are $5.50 + tax and they're not even good. When I spend the kind of money that I have at Al's, I want to get equal quality in return. I suggest a reduction in price, or an improvement in the portions offered. I can buy a huge meal for less than $10 up the road at G's Burgers, and be satisfied. Additionally, the staff needs to be more enthusiastic and friendly. Ignoring customers and playing on your phones in the back (where others can clearly see you) is highly unprofessional. I don't see this place around much longer if they continue to go...

I came here expecting it to be the “BEST” local hot dog joint in my state. After taking a look at how the kitchen operated “Slow, Dirty, and Unenthusiastic. I began to have my doubts.

When I had received my dog, after a lengthy 20 minute wait, I had high expectations! Until I took that first bite , that “spicy relish” tasted like cayenne pepper was dumped into a jar of hot dog relish, The hot dog had an old greasy taste that turned me off INSTANTLY ! The Cheese tasted like it was sitting in the sun … EVEN THE KETCHUP TASTED OLD.

The service was bad , it was obvious the workers were only there for that check and didnt care about their customers...
