Unfortunately I have come to realize that OCC is not Veteran accommodating. I visited for the second time since being away for 40+ years. I was hoping to catch some memories of my miss spent youth. I entered with my service dog who has been my constant companion since entering my life. The cook came out from the kitchen and asked if my dog (now sleeping on my feet) was a service dog. I said he sure is, my partner. He then ask where’s his vest? Now I’m down from Vermont caring for my parents so I’m unfamiliar with CT law so I say that’s not required in VT. I tell him the answers to two federally sanctioned questions 1. He is my service dog and 2. He is trained to detect a service related disability. He says this is CT your required to have a vest or documentation. I now see he’s making it up as he goes along because later I looked up the statues on CT DOJ. So I gather my belongings and berate him as we exit. THERE IS NO POINT ARGUING WITH A FOOL. I will never return there, I’ve never felt so unwelcome in a bar in my adult life. And after serving my country for 22 years to be treated with disrespect (born of ignorance) is surprising. If you have been or are a service member keep in mind how they choose...
Read moreI love The Corner Tavern—hands down, my favorite spot. Now, let’s dive into why.
The location is steeped in history, and the owner has done a fantastic job preserving its nostalgic charm without making you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The bartenders are top-notch—creative, welcoming, and always making you feel at home.
For vegetarians, this place is a gem. There are plenty of options, from bean patties to plant-based bacon, all at reasonable prices for fresh, made-to-order food. The food is amazing and consistent! 😋 And craft beer to enjoy, IPA to cider, you have options.
There’s always something happening, whether it’s a fundraiser, karaoke night, or just a night of great laughs and meaningful conversations. You’ll leave satisfied and already planning your next visit.
The Corner Tavern is like the 80s sitcom Cheers—a true community staple.
Try the Chocolate Cookie Dough Whiskey Martini, the owner created for me. It's my favorite, and hopefully...
Read moreEvery time we've gone, all the drinks are well made, the bartenders are fairly attentive and very friendly, and the space is really clean and fun to be in! St Patrick's Day is really packed, but they do a good job serving drinks and making sure people are happy. There are a lot of different beers on tap, though I'm not sure how often they change them out. When they ran out of something, they wiped it off the mirror some of the things are written on, so they make sure you know what they have too! Definitely 10/10, would recommend and will go...
