Me and my family have been going to Black Bear Diner for 16 years, ever since the Tropicana location was the only one in town. Since the Sahara one opened, we've gone to that one more often because it's in a nicer part of town.

Usually their homestyle food is wonderfully nostalgic and tasty any time of day, and their serving staff is friendly and welcoming. Although the service was still very nice, the food was quite disappointing this time around. My daughter requested the Diner for her 17th birthday as a special treat. I ordered the Little Less Pot Roast and my daughter ordered the ham steak and scrambled eggs without cheese (she is lactose intolerant). My pot roast was too salty and could have been cooked another hour or so to render the fat a bit. It was reasonably tender though, and the carrots & broccoli were steamed perfectly. But the roast was way too salty and the meal was altogether a little cold. The mashed potatoes were creamy and rich, but also too salty. My daughter's scrambled eggs arrived full of cheese (despite what we ordered), and the house potatoes were topped with a mound of raw onions, which they have never done before. The hostess and server were exceptionally friendly and helpful, as always. However, a member of the kitchen staff seemed to be complaining loudly, which was a little unnerving. They could have been just talking loudly, but it still took away from the overall coziness of the restaurant. We will still go back - we've been going for years and one disappointing meal in a million won't deter us. 😊 Order the pancakes! They're always a fluffy,...

We arrived around 4pm not many people in the restaurant.

It took about 15 min for them to take our drink order. Another 5-7 to get the drinks and order.

My wife ordered the tri-tip and ribs dinner, my kids each got some tenders and fries. I got the burger.

The food took over 45min to come out. Remember I mentioned it was pretty empty. Us and 1-2 more tables.

The waitress noticed we had been waiting and let us know the food was coming out shortly. I thanked her.

After waiting nearly the 45 min for our food to come out we get informed that they where out of ribs and if we would like to sub it for something else. My wife decided to get the shrimp along with the tri-tip.

How or better said why did it take so long for them to realize that they had no ribs?

I digress.

After making the changes we got our food with in five min.

The fries for the tender meals where like warm at best. My burger had burnt onions.

The kicker here is my wife was served RAW shrimp. As she took her first bite it was an instant mush and disgust.

We let the waitress no immediately.

They ended up bribing her some more tri-tip and took the shrimp away.

At the end of the meal we ended up paying the full bill. And we where charged for the tri-tip and ribs when that’s not what she ended up eating.

Not a single try to comp an item or anything.

Truly a sad experience and lack of effort to actually rectify the situation and make the customer happy.

Serving raw shrimp is extremely dangerous and unsafe food practices.

I truly hope this doesn’t happen to...

Today my boyfriend and I took my 2 grandchildren to black bear for lunch. We have been going there for over 2 years and loved it!!!! Great food and service. I was disgusted today. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table , no problem but when we were seated we had a new waiter. The worst. I ordered a strawberry milkshake for the kids like we always do and the waiter told me no strawberry today just vanilla. Ok. He cane back and said no vanilla sry. Ok milk it was. I ordered pancakes and scrambled with a side of sausage and bacon , a BLT for myself and my boyfriend ordered the patty melt and asked if he could have it with American cheese instead of Swiss, he said ok. He brought us our drinks and he gave me my coffee and didn’t offer me any milk or half and half. I waited 10 minutes before I had to ask a different waiter for some because our waiter was no where in sight. He brought us our food. The scrambled eggs were raw and 1 piece of bacon and 1 sausage when I ordered a side of each. My boyfriend got his sandwich with Swiss cheese instead of the American as promised. Every time I go the waiter or waitress refills my coffee atleast twice, today not once!!!! I didn’t say anything because the dinner was so crowded and waited till I got home and called the diner and the phone goes right to voicemail . What diner goes to voicemail. I am very upset. My grandson (2 years old) had diarrhea from the scrambled eggs. I hope I get a response from a manager as I cannot get through on the phone which I cannot understand. Will not...

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful, Black bear Diner on Sahara offered a Thanksgiving dinner deal that was decent but definitely not worth the wait. My wife placed an order to be picked up at 2PM, the food was not ready until 4PM. The meal was supposed to come with Turkey, Mashed Patatoes, Green Beans, Stuffing, Salad and Pumpkin Pie. Unfortunately they ran out of the pumpkin pie early on in the day and did not want to offer any substitute. When asked if we could get something else for the desert since you know we paid for it the staff made it seem like they could do nothing about this and didn't even offer a partial refund for the missing food. My wife was able to convince them to give us a Bear claw as a substitute but the server gave attitude and made it seem like he was doing us such a huge favor by giving us a dessert that we paid for. Overall by the time the food was actually consumed it was cold and very unappealing. I understand that it gets busy and especially with it being a holiday that it gets frustrating for the staff but I do not believe that is any reason for them to act rude or give attitude to the customers the way I experienced today. I am disappointed to say that after this experience I dont ever plan to return to this specific Black Bear Diner for as long as I live here is Vegas. I do not think they thought fully about the holiday deal they were offering nor do I believe they were prepared for what was to come.

Terrible service at this location. Host at the counter did not greet us as we came in and was doing something on the computer for minutes as we stood there. Then our waitress came and put us at a table and we could tell from how tired and unfriendly she was that we were not going to have good service. We tried ordering the huckleberry lemonade and was told they are out of that. I asked her what the soup options were, she told me chicken noodle and broccoli. I ordered broccoli then she told me they were out of that. Our order came out correctly which was good but the food was so bland and flavorless. I've ordered from the Trop location a few times and had always enjoyed the food so not sure what's happening at this location. Chicken fried steak was super bland, the mashed potatoes tasted like water, the Mac n cheese had shredded cheese on top that was hard and gross to chew on like it had been sitting out and dried out before being sprinkled on the Mac n cheese. Overall such a disappointing experience. I do not recommend this location.
