Koi Sushi in North Lake Tahoe is a decent option for all-you-can-eat sushi, but it comes with a few caveats. Location and Ambiance: Located in a strip mall with limited parking, finding a spot shouldn't be too difficult. They only have indoor seating, and interestingly, the restaurant was completely empty when I went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Service: This was definitely a highlight of my visit. My server was incredibly friendly and attentive, and she always had a smile on her face. Menu and Value: Koi Sushi offers both a la carte and all-you-can-eat (AYCE) menu, available for lunch and dinner (dinner starts at 3 pm). Heads up: The AYCE appetizer portions are smaller than the regular menu options. For example, the gyoza serving is smaller in the AYCE option. This leads to a bit of a mental exercise. I found myself constantly calculating if I was getting my money's worth. Here's the breakdown: To truly get your money's worth with the AYCE option, you need to eat at least 8 orders of nigiri sushi (priced at $6 avg., which translates to 16 total pieces). Food: I opted for the AYCE option and tried various nigiri: albacore, hamachi, maguro, smoked salmon, unagi, saba, and the "mickey mouse" (blackened tuna, shredded crab, avocado). Each nigiri comes with two pieces. The standout items were the mickey mouse and smoked salmon. All the nigiri had a generous amount of fish, but the rice portions were quite large, too (as expected). Compared to other AYCE sushi places, Koi Sushi shines in a few ways: Service speed doesn't slow down for AYCE orders. There's no time limit for your meal. You can order one dish at a time to avoid food waste, and they were very accommodating with this request. They didn't charge me extra for leftover edamame (though it's unclear if they do for leftover sushi). Overall, the quality of the nigiri was average, as expected for an AYCE option. Additional Notes: Be aware of the 3.75% credit card surcharge. Signs are posted at each table.

We had been wanting to re-visit an old favorite of ours in Lake Tahoe. Come to find when we looked it up that it had closed down. On a good note, this place popped up with great feedback and in our village we decided to give it a try. It is incline village and in a santa village strip mall. Very hidden as it is in the corner and it is the last establishment on the row. We had initially called in and asked for a reservation and we were told it is first come first serve. We arrived at 630 pm for our dinner and waited two minutes to be seated. We normally eat at the sushi bar as it is the most entertaining! So glad we did as we were greeted by Sushi Chef Hundo and a the "Maestro"! We knew we're in good hands! To our pleasant surprise, they offer two menus this evening, a la carte and all you can eat. We wanted to try a variety of bites as I like more oily fishes and the wife does not as much,so we decided to try the all you can eat. The portions were perfect and all of our bites were delicious! We couldn't stop thanking our chef as he was quick and attentive and had a great smile! The restaurant filled up quickly and it was bustling for a Wednesday evening in the summer. That is always a good sign! Thank you to all the team for the service and food, we are disappointed that Hiro Sushi closed down but we would have never found this corner pocket gem! Keet it up!!

SO SO SUSHI This locally owned Japanese eatery has some very hard working and pleasant staff. Their parking lot can be a nightmare, but worth a trip there to get a sushi “fix” when in Tahoe. Be aware they tack on 3.75% to the total if you aren’t paying cash. A “cash discount” might be a better way to market, but that’s their choice to make. My sushi-addicted daughter requested to dine here so she could have her first ever “all you can eat sushi” experience and she sure made it worth the $39 (49 with tax, cc fee, & tip). My other daughter had the chicken katsu lunch special and husband had the nigiri lunch specials. Value points are strong with the lunch specials. I ordered the Agedashi tofu, sunomono salad, spicy scallop handroll, and salmon sashimi. The fish I had was only ok. It did not taste fresh from the freezer and sashimi was awkwardly cut in thick slices. I enjoyed the unique presentation with the agedashi tofu and thought it would be a better dish to share than eat yourself. Sunomono was homemade and pretty tasty. 4 stars overall for a locally owned eatery serving up homemade grub in a tourist town.

Prepare to embark on a culinary journey that will transcend the boundaries of your taste buds and elevate your senses to unprecedented heights! Koi Sushi, a haven of gastronomic excellence, is not just a restaurant; it is a symphony of flavors that will transport you to a realm of unparalleled delight!

Let me regale you with the tale of my recent encounter with the culinary maestros at Koi Sushi. From the moment I stepped through the ethereal doors, I was enveloped in an atmosphere that spoke of centuries-old culinary mastery blended seamlessly with modern elegance. The ambiance alone whispered promises of an extraordinary dining experience.

As I perused the menu, my eyes widened with anticipation, but little did I know that what awaited me was a vegetarian feast that would redefine my perception of Japanese cuisine. The star of the evening was, undoubtedly, the vegetarian udon. Each delectable slurp transported me to a state of bliss, as the perfectly cooked noodles danced in a broth that seemed to have been concocted by culinary wizards.

The edamame, a seemingly simple dish, revealed itself as a work of art. The vibrant green pods, lightly salted to perfection, were a testament to the chef's dedication to enhancing even the most humble of ingredients. Each bite was a revelation, a burst of freshness that awakened my taste buds in ways I never thought possible.

And let us not forget the green tea—an elixir of tranquility that flowed freely, soothing my senses and harmonizing with the symphony of flavors unfolding before me. The precision with which it was brewed reflected the commitment of Koi Sushi to authenticity and excellence.

But it wasn't just the food that left an indelible mark on my soul; it was the impeccable service and the attention to detail that elevated this dining experience to celestial heights. The staff at Koi Sushi are not mere servers; they are culinary ambassadors, guiding you through a gastronomic odyssey with grace and expertise.

In conclusion, Koi Sushi is not just a restaurant; it is a sacred space where culinary dreams come true. If you seek an otherworldly experience that transcends the mundane, a pilgrimage to Koi Sushi is not just recommended—it is essential. Prepare to be enchanted, enthralled, and utterly captivated by the gastronomic wonders that await you at this...

Ok, where do i start. I guess I'll start by saying WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T EVER EAT HERE!!!! We are frequent Sushi eaters and have witnessed the decline of KOI since its new owners. We have spent several thousand dollars there over the last two years and even go as far as to tip the sushi chef's extra AND buy them beers too. We were there for the very last time today and we let the owners know how disappointed we were about the service (takes forever to get your food) the size of the rice (were not there to eat 'all you can eat rice') and the overall declining experience. The owners wife completely lost it by telling us how dare we say that and that we spend to way much time there, up to two hours because it takes forever to get your food, and that we should be in and out in less than 1 hour! Are you kidding me???? Really one of the most unpleasant and rude restaurateurs we've ever come across. They want to get you in and out as fast as possible and have you eat the least amount of fish and the most amount of rice to fill you up quick. The quality has gone down considerably and the service even more. We found out that we had been targeted for bad service, the next time we came in, just to push us out because we had spent up to two hours at the establishment previously on a number of occasions. We'll if you don't get your first order for 20-30 minutes then one should understand that. Today was even worse. we felt like all the employees had been told to give us bad service for they wanted us out as fast as possible. If you are looking for good service and great sushi then AVOID KOI SUSHI IN INCLINE VILLAGE AT ALL COST. I must say that Arturo, Jun & Ji were good to us until their dictator bosses told them to disrespect us! AGAIN IN SUMMARY, AND COMING FROM A VERY FREQUENT AND AVID SUSHI EATER

THE OWNERS ARE TERRIBLE HOST, ARE RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY

THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD HAS GONE DOWNHILL CONSIDERABLY

ONE CAN FEEL THE BAD ATMOSPHERE

ITS OVERPRICED ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU RECEIVE MORE RICE THEN FISH

So save yourself the stress and frustration and drive a bit further for an awesome experience at Sushi Pier 2 in Reno, Tomo Sushi in Carson City and Drunken Monkey in Truckee but whatever you do trust us and DO NOT GO EAT...
