Indulge me as I recount the captivating tale of Proper Sandwich Company - an exquisite gastronomic haven meticulously curated by the visionary sandwich artist Phil. Having migrated from the grandeur of Chicago to the vibrant tapestry of Las Vegas in 2004, Phil embarked on an epicurean odyssey that has left an indelible mark on the city's culinary landscape.
Phil, a connoisseur of unparalleled taste, polished his craft as a sommelier at Guy Savoy and later ascended to the esteemed position of Wine Director at Caesar's. The past decade has seen him and his wife, Kristin, orchestrating impeccable 'barbeques' for their fortunate circle of friends.
Since 2020, Phil's passion for quality has burgeoned into an enchanting journey of sandwich creation, inspired by his culinary experience and reminiscent of his Chicago roots. His relentless pursuit of excellence, combined with hours of engagement with vendors, exploration of fresh produce, and mastery of the art of porchetta roasting, has birthed a culinary symphony, Proper Sandwich Company.
As you step into this quaint establishment, you are immediately embraced by an intimate atmosphere - a place to sit, savor, and revel in the artistry of sandwiches crafted the Proper way. The menu is a testament to Phil's dedication, with a meticulous selection of BĂĄnh MĂŹ and Vietnamese options, paying homage to the rise of mom-and-pop establishments, particularly those with Vietnamese heritage.
During my recent sojourn, I surrendered to the allure of the Hot Prime Beef & Cheddar - a harmonious blend of house-roasted prime beef, Tipperary Irish cheddar, crispy fried onions, 1000 horsey sauce, and house-made 'Arby' sauce on a delicate potato roll. The experience was delightful, resonating within me for days, compelling me to make subsequent visits.
In the resplendent tapestry of culinary experiences, Proper Sandwich Company stands as a beacon of sophistication and taste. I fervently anticipate the day when a second location graces my locale, enabling more to luxuriate in the culinary brilliance orchestrated by Phil and his team. A captivating journey for the palate, Proper Sandwich Company unequivocally deserves five...
Read moreClean and beautiful sandwich shop. Adult beverages are served but itâs not somewhere to hang for a long time. Iâm guessing thatâs probably not what theyâre going for anyway. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Food came out rather quickly although it wasnât very busy at the time. Had the prime beef and cheddar, which is a much elevated Arbyâs style beef & cheese, which is in turn a fast food version of roast beef sandwiches from Boston areaâs North Shore. Coming from Boston this is something Iâve had tons of times and love. Always on the lookout for something similar since moving from Massachusetts.
The sandwich was very good. The roast beef was juicy, tender, and warm. It could have been a little more under, it was more med-well/well done. The roll was soft and complemented the sandwich well. The crispy onions didnât really add much but a little crunch to the sandwich, they didnât really have much flavor, even onion flavor. The sauces on the sandwich had nice flavor and worked well together. The cheddar on there didnât really hit though. It just kind of got lost in between the crispy onions and top of the roll.
Overall, this is a very good roast beef sandwich by local standards. Top Round Roast Beef at NY NY resort does do it a notch better in my opinion. That said, I canât wait to try other items from Proper Sandwich Company. Many delicious sounding and uniquely built sandwiches plus some of the sides like the charred spam pasta salad sound amazing. Their prices are a little on the high end but I think it warrants those prices because you can tell the ingredients are superior quality and they put care into their craft.
Had the house made BBQ chips as a side. The chips were crisp and good but the BBQ seasoning was just a little too smoky flavored, which wasnât for me, but regardless, the chips themselves were so crispy I couldnât stop eating them so Iâd recommend for sure.
Proper Sandwich Company is a must go in the city. There are many places here for sandwiches but more often than not they can disappoint. I just donât see that happening at Proper. You can tell they care about what they serve...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Proper Sandwich Company and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was enjoyable. They even took the time to inform me that the Pork Banh Mi contained fish sauce, which I am allergic to. This attention to detail and consideration for customers' dietary restrictions was greatly appreciated. I also noticed that this information was clearly printed on their video menu, which was a thoughtful touch.
One of the highlights of the restaurant was their fountain drink bar. I particularly enjoyed their refreshing iced tea. It was the perfect accompaniment to my meal. Speaking of which, I ordered the Italian Hoagie priced at $14.75 and it was absolutely delicious. In fact, I dare say it was even better than sandwiches I've had at other franchises (I'm looking at you, Subway). The flavors were well-balanced and the ingredients were fresh. It was evident that a lot of care went into crafting this sandwich.
To complement my sandwich, I also decided to try their $3 fries. Let me tell you, these fries were a crispy slice of heaven. The outside was perfectly crisp while the inside remained soft and hot. I couldn't help but comment that fries on this side of town seemed to be on a whole different level compared to where I live.
Another aspect that added to the overall enjoyable ambiance of the restaurant was the music selection. As a fan of The Cure, The Smiths, Yves Deruyter, and other great artists, I was pleasantly surprised to hear their music playing in the background. It created a relaxed and nostalgic atmosphere that enhanced my dining experience.
Overall, I highly recommend stopping by the Proper Sandwich Company for a bite to eat. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, the food is top-notch, and the atmosphere is casual and inviting. Whether you're in the mood for a fantastic sandwich or simply want to enjoy some great music while sipping on a refreshing drink, this place has it all. Trust me, you won't be...
