Terrible Management & Lack of Concern for Public Health
If I could give zero stars, I would. My son has been a dedicated line cook at this Rubio’s location for the past two years. He has never called out, and is easily one of the hardest workers on the team. Despite his strong work ethic, he was treated with complete disrespect by the manager, Nancy, when he fell ill.
On Friday, February 14th, he woke up with a 103-degree fever and was clearly coming down with the flu that is currently going around. He contacted Nancy with plenty of notice to let her know he was too sick to work. Instead of showing any concern for his health or the safety of the customers eating here, she refused to let him call out and told him he had to come in. Keep in mind—he is a line cook. The fact that she prioritized her own convenience over the well-being of both employees and customers is beyond unacceptable.
When he put in his two weeks’ notice due to her disrespectful and unprofessional behavior, she responded by telling him that his last day was yesterday, effectively firing him on the spot. This kind of treatment is appalling, not only for employees but also for customers who should expect higher health and safety standards from a restaurant.
If this is how Rubio’s treats its staff and handles food safety concerns, I highly recommend avoiding this location. Poor management, zero regard for employee well-being, and a blatant disregard for public health. Do...
Read moreMy son and I went in and ordered food to go. While we are waiting they hand a tray of food to the people who ordered before us who are seated in the far back of the restaurant. They then start bagging our order and as they check it they see it’s not right (why they didn’t check to be sure they handed the other people the right food I don’t know). Just then the guy before us walks up with my food order and they swap. I watch her put that in the bag and then she calls my name. I ask her if she’s planning on giving me food that another customer just had and did who knows what to. She says “they didn’t do anything”. I ask how she knows and she then says she will remake it but all huffy. I then watch her “remake” my meal using the same food she just took back with her. I’ve had Starbucks hand me the wrong drink, and when I went to give it back they said they couldn’t take it from me. I’ve had Wendy’s forget to take condiments off my daughters burger, they remade it but told me they couldn’t take back the wrong one even to throw in the trash, I had to do it. Yet Rubios can hand my food off to a customer, let them open and do who knows what (touch?) before they notice it’s wrong, then hand it to me saying it’s fine. Disgustingly unsanitary. Im...
Read moreI second the comments on rude management/staff.
I just spoke with a "manager", regarding finding hair in my food and a change in the exceptional amount of spice used in the dish I ordered.
The "manager" told me at the beginning that 'Doordash has your money'. I told him that I didn't care about the money, I was calling about the hair and food quality and whether or not there was a change in preparation and/or chefs. He told me that sometimes hair gets in food (reasonable, but I hope not often!) and that if I want my money back, I should go through Doordash. Again, I told him that I didn't care about the money; I was only concerned about the food quality. Near the end of the conversation that was filled with him justifying the chef, the staff, the restaurant and himself, he told me that Doordash has my money! I again told him...well, you, dear reader, can figure it out, but he certainly couldn't!
This particular location seems to have a service quality issue, perhaps from the "manager" I...
