OMG are these donuts WAY OVERPRICED for being typical, average, everyday donuts, if that. And even tho they're open 24 hrs according to their sign, I guess they only make them once a day and that would be first thing in the morning because I went by there about 4:45-5:00 p.m. on Friday & there was a note taped to the door that said "back in 30 mins". No time was included so I had no idea if it was left 3 or 23 minutes ago. Then a lady with 2 kids in tow appeared. She was the one who wrote the note so I went inside with them. The display case had nothing spectacular under it's glass. Actually, the options looked rather poor. Hardly ANY icing on the maple bars and the 3 jelly filled that were left were VERY SMALL with the old, crackly look that the glaze on day old donuts get right before the next day's transformation into looking like they're soaking wet and super shiny. I think everybody who enjoys a good donut has witnessed such morphing at least once, right? It was actually hard to choose something that didn't look unappealing or just plain stale/old. The most edible looking creation I saw were the apple fritters so I ended up getting two of those. The lady kept trying to push the blueberry donuts but I wasn't interested. After my 12th pick she said "I give you 2 extra- 1choc cake & 1plain cake" (both completely void of any frosting). Gee, thanx a bunch for the freebies that are lookin to be 10 mins late for the dumpster. Then she rang me up and announced my total: $16.83. SIXTEEN DOLLARS AND EIGHTY THREE CENTS!! For what?!??? The sign above her said "Mixed dozen-$11.00", which is already too much if you ask me, but where does the extra $6.00 come in? Well, apparently there is an extra charge if you want the Apple Fritters. Hmmmm. Nice of her to tell me when she was plucking them from the case. Unbelievable. But like a numbskull I pulled out a $20 and paid for them. Took them home to my family and boy did my kids (15 & 20) have a "donut dissing" session underway at first sight. They knocked the appearance, the staleness, the flavor, the size, almost everything about them. And I didn't dare reveal the cost for fear of all the slams I would have had to hear. It was a costly experience, considering I could have gotten 3 dozen donuts from the bakery at Walmart and I would be willing to bet they would have been much fresher and even better looking. I WOULD NOT go back to Sunrise Donuts unless it was THE VERY LAST place in town to get a donut. They make Carl's Donuts (the supplier to 7-11 and many other convenience stores) look like Krispy Kreme. I'm not fond of experiencing sticker shock in such a place, because these donuts are in no way worth the money they're charging for them. Maybe you'll get lucky and they will be big, fresh, lovely, delicious, delectable pastries to die for. Yeah, and maybe NOT. Buyer...
Read moreAMAZING family style sandwich and donut shop. I accidentally stumbled on this amazing location on a delivery app when I was looking for decent donuts in the SW at a normal price. I wqs beyond pleasantly surprised they had my favorites of maple old fashioned, blueberry cake, and cronuts so had ordered several times now for family as well as tried out their croissant sandwiches. I wqs so impressed as they have completely replaced Lee's Sandwhiches for me in fresh quality ingredients and croissants whether breakfast or lunch. Anyone whose been in Vegas for a while knows Lee's used tp be the best Asian style sandwiches in town and even before the pandemic all their locations went to garbage no exaggeration. They hired lroces even more and every single order not even occasional was suddenly gross flat stale breads and disgusting ingredients among all their drinks. They wwre serving McDonalds or gas station quality with all mgmt and employees bot giving a dam hating their jobs and taking it out om the customers at a gourmet price point. Never thought I would find anything close until I accidentally stumbled on Sunset Donuts. They have a simple menu but anytjing from sandwiches, donuts, drinks, frapps etc are just made to perfection and without price gauging locals. We need for family style places like this that take pride in quality compared to all the garbage chains. Highly recommend them and gopw they are around for a long time. Thank you to the amazing manager and team thay works here among provided equally flawless delivery orders abs reads...
Read moreOpened in the waning days of 2017 and visited once a few months later Sunrise Donuts has improved slightly in the interim, the menu now more focused while an early opening and closure at 2:00pm has replaced 24/7 service.
Not far from the Highway Patrol or 215 it was early-afternoon that eighteen fried Pastries were delivered, low prices undeniably part of the appeal and more on par with Krispy Kreme or Winchellâs than Pink Box or Glaze.
Surely frying from a Mix, the price alone evidence of that fact while anyone familiar with old-school Doughnutries across America can easily spot the difference between these and something involving a little more effort, it remains surprising to see Cherry Cake alongside the more typical Blueberry version, an instant reminder of childhood in the Midwest provided by each bite.
Better for Cake than Yeast, both bars and rings of the latter lacking the springy texture of competitors, Frostings taste decidedly artificial thus making the Old Fashioned and Apple Fritters a superior choice for those who canât make...
