My wife and I came here last night on NYE, and boy, what a disappointment. We haven't been to Boulder since Covid and while the casino seems fine, there is no more Feast Buffet and Grand Cafe is now called Brass Fork. All I can say is they have some brass tacks to try to serve this "updated bistro?" fare. The old American diner food was fine and very tasty. Not to mention, the place was always packed. At 9:30pm it was virtually empty. Which is a nice segue to my actual complaint. When our hostess brought us in to seat us, out server made it quite apparent he absolutely DID NOT want another table seated, with much flapping of his arms and an actual overheard comment to her of "Why did you do that?". I worked as a cook/ chef for 25 years, so I am not unsympathetic to the plight that we all go through at times, however, this attitude being shown us and the the few other customers was completely unacceptable. I ordered an appetizer. Sullen eyed stare. Upgrade the appetizer. Sullen eyed stare.A beer. Sullen eyed stare. Barely a word out of the guy, and he was old enough to know better. The nachos we got were lackadaisically thrown together and only half heated. We had to ask for hot sauce. My wife ordered a cheese steak that looked like my 12 year old grand daughter could have made it. Fries cold. I ordered fish and chips and again the fries were really cold, hush puppies burnt, tartar sauce was not tartar sauce (bistro, again?) and when I had to ask once again for something that is clearly stated to come on the menu, malt vinegar. It was watered down. Several times.I am not kidding here. I worked in a British pub, serving fish and chips, and I know what malt vinegar smells and tastes like. Infuriating. In actuality, I should have refused to pay for the whole sorry mess, aside from the beer, but being it was NYE, and not wanting to make a stink and embarrass my wife(although, she was more than a little shocked herself), we paid and even left a small tip, because believe me, $4 was more than he deserved. In closing, perhaps this was just a bad night, but after being a customer of Grand Cafe for many years, this new direction does not seem to be an ideal fit for your property. We were very disappointed, and on a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI put all one stars to get your attention and I'm leaving my previous review below and also adding this to my Game On review. I'm very upset that the Brass Fork and Game on have merged. The Brass Fork was COZY- minimal TV, no loud music, dimly lit...cozy...and they had VEGETABLES! Do you understand that vegetables like broccoli, peppers, asparagus, and squash are the healthiest things to eat. You need to offer these types of food. It's so miserable to be a healthy eater and have to go out, only to find that there's no healthy food. I would order a salad except that it's so cold in here, and the Cobb salad now has BBQ, cheddar, and fried onion- NEWS FLASH- that is NOT a Cobb salad. I hate that you ruined my favorite place to eat breakfast/lunch in North Town. There's so few Places to eat that aren't Mexican food or that offer healthy options.
Also, the Game On is not comfortable or cozy- it's loud, echoey, bright and COLD. I ordered a BEC sandwich, since I couldn't have anything healthy, ait said it was "butter soft scrambled eggs. It came out fried over hard with brown crisp edges which is so disgusting!!!! The one good thing you kept was Matthew. We had him as a server once at Brass fork and now once at Game On, and he is so nice and helpful. Keep him and get your good food back. Don't take good food and turn it into bar food!!! Please make this restaurant good for EVERYONE. I'm local. We come here pretty much every week, sometimes more than once. There aren't many good restaurants in this area. The Brass Fork was one of the few. Pleaee put it back. I'm so disappointed, I don't have the words....we probably won't be back now. š
Previous review: Cute little cafe inside Boulder Station. The food was excellent and the server was awesome! We had breakfast (which is served all day), beef hash and country fried steak. Both were delicious! They had yummy looking pastries, but we didn't have any- next time, maybe. Lol. Unfortunately, I don't remember our server's name, but she was super nice, brought us some awesome Irish coffees and participated in my husband's silly joking, which made his day! We will...
