If it wasn't for the delightful hostess (Laura) who greeted me when I entered to restaurant section, this would have been a one-year review. I am a regular at the Cactus and Bermuda location. I came into this location, for breakfast, only because it is across the street from my office. I went into the bar section, found a machine I wanted to play and waited for the bartender to acknowledge me. I sat there for what felt like 5 minutes. I wanted to place my order, go to the restroom and come back and play, while I waited on my food. He never came over. He continued doing whatever paperwork he was doing. I could not wait any longer. So, I went to the restroom and deliberately walked past him. This is when he finally spoke to me and said hi. When I return from the restroom, a patron is, now, seated at the machine I wanted to play. I sit next to this customer. Finally, the bartender returns behind the bar, proceeds to greet this customer by name (Bruce) and take his drink order. I, immediately, walked out. The hostess, in the restaurant, acknowledged me again. So, I placed my order with her. I promise you that I will never return to this bar, if this is the kind of service your bartenders give to new people. I was advised that he was a relief bartender. That should not matter. I see relief bartenders, at Cactus and Bermuda, all of the time. They are always attentive and responsive. They greet you, as soon as you walk in, and it does not take several minutes for them to get you, unless the bar is extremely busy. This...
Read moreWhile Village Pub has several locations, my favorite is on the corner of Wigwam and Eastern.
It reminds me of the kind of Mom and Pop Eatery I grew up with around near Cape Cod.
Their menu specialties include their famous Fish n Chips, and an excellent Pot Pie.
It's one of the few places you can still have a decent sirloin steak with baked potato and salad for a price that won't break the bank too. Just resign yourself to getting the steak either super well done or bloody blue raw.
I don't think the chef here owns a meat thermometer. If you want a medium rare steak....just order the fish and chips. Medium rare doesn't happen here...at least not on purpose.
It's okay though...
The breakfast menu is excellent and the serving portions are exceedingly generous.
Best of all is the service at this Village Pub. The folks here really will go out of their way to be accommodating friendly and responsive to the needs of the clientele.
I have to assume this particular Village Pub also has good working relationships. I've been going here off and on for the past 10 years. Many of the wait staff today are the same people that were working at this location...
Read moreThis was my first time at any Village Pub. Met up with some people from work, so while waiting for a large enough table, we parked it at the bar. The atmosphere is relaxing, there is an older crowd if you know what I mean and families. If you like your drinks strong, I don't think you'll find it here. Didn't really see top shelf while sitting there. Ordered a margarita that tasted like a splash of tequila and some sweet & sour but nothing to rave about. Now the reason for 4 stars, the food! The dishes came out with a nice presentation, plates and bowls for the atmosphere didn't mesh but I'm more concerned with what's on the dishes themselves. Me and one of my coworkers decided to share so we got appetizers. Potato skins, quesadillas and chicken wings. All of them were delicious, cooked perfectly. Our server wasn't all there as we had to ask for things more than twice. But that was just one. Other servers we flagged down were attentive and quick. All in all, I think I would definitely bring my fam here...
