Tejas Birria- New Braunfels — Restaurant in New Braunfels

I want to be very clear...my family and have greatly enjoyed Tejas Birria for months now. We've visited them around 5 or 6 times at the time of writing and each time has been wonderful. That said, today's experience was not up to their usual standard. The birria meat in our orders (melt and tacos) was dry and I know, you're probably thinking well we have the consume to fix that, but here's the thing...the consume was off. Firstly, it was very "thin". It was so thin that I couldn't help thinking it was just beef broth mixed with a store bought birria ball. Moreover, there wasn't a single fresh ingredient floating in the consume...it was without pieces of the beef that you'd normally find, no herbs, no particles from the various chilies, etc. Literally, it was thin as if it was simply some seasoned beef broth. This has NOT been our experience in the past. In the past the consume is thick, super flavorful, it's got a deep red color and the birria meet is very tasty and seasoned. Tonight's meal was...off. Maybe it was just bad batch, I don't know, but my wife and are going to take some away from Tejas Birria and come back in a month or so to see if things...

Was looking for a good dinner option and was blown away by not only the delicious food but the friendly service I received! When I first approached, they were busy and I waited a while, but I went back inside because I was cold. I came back out because I was hungry and wanted to try their food and they apologize for the wait and acknowledged that I was waiting.

It was a nice feeling to be noticed by the staff despite their dinner rush. We talked about what they would recommend. I ended up getting the birria tacos without cheese on the recommendation of the staff, and it did not disappoint! Will...

I give them three stars simply because I ordered here for the first time today. I’ve picked up plenty of orders for this place through door dash. That’s what inspired me to try them. I order the four tacos. Half with cheese and half without. Simply because cheese can change the taste of the birria. Unfortunately all of them had cheese. Not a great first impression as far as paying attention to customer orders. Don’t get me wrong the food is delicious. Just wish I could’ve had the tacos with and without cheese. Just to experience both ways. I’ll probably be going back to get some Birria-New tacos...
