El Torito Restaurant — Restaurant in New Braunfels

We've been here several times for breakfast and was never disappointed. My wife decided to eat here for her birthday. Initial service was prompt. Chips were brought with a bowl on top and the server said she'd be back with the salsa. By the time she brought the salsa (in a bottle for the table to pour into the empty bowl) the chips were finished. The server never asked to see if we needed more chips. Both plates came out and we asked if they came with tortillas. The server said these didn't. We asked to see a menu and it only says "most lunches come with rice, beans, and 2 tortillas." In addition, my enchilada plate did not come with rice and beans. In my entire life (almost 50) I have never seen a lunch plate NOT include rice and beans. My wife's plate was salty and she barely ate any of her food. After discussing with the server and the manager, both said they had some body do the menus and they were bad. We were given a "discount," but our meals still totaled $31 (2 meals, 1 lemonade, 1 water). I am NEVER going back. My wife says she'll go for breakfast but I will not join her for that. The food is really good This is some pretty good quality Mexican food If you looking for some spicy sauces they have the spice here....and this food come out piping hot with a great flavor..I come here often which I've learned they charge you for tortillas that suppose to be with the meal, and cash adjustments so ask for receipt or you'll get added adjustments and act like they don't speak English. There were times while I was sitting in and I was like one of the only customers in the afternoon laughing once I get n watching me felt weird... This place just disappointed me tremendously I got treated poorly although I was coming often there was instances where when I called in and I said my name they hung up on me even my friend that speak fluent Spanish tried to call my order in when she said SHEA SHE POLITELY HUNG up ALL THIS BECAUSE IM BLACK UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM everyone came from black baby so the hate be to real for me to spend my money here any longer food good but...

I just found this seemingly hole in the wall restaurant when my go to place was closed unexpectedly. I walked in expecting to find some tiny, dingy interior but this place was really nice. The tables are nice, clean, and big. The walls are freshly painted and it smelled like a clean restaurant. The food was good. I don't think there is anything really special about the food, pretty typical. They had 3 salsas that I tried. The first was a pretty basic puree of tomato with some spice. Their tomatillo salsa was quite nice with a good heat. Finally, they had a dark salsa that I think is Chipotle based. This one was my favorite! The staff was super friendly but our server barely spoke English so if you don't speak Spanish, have some patience and speak clearly.
