El Jardin Mexican Food — Restaurant in New Braunfels

Hands down, this is some of the best breakfast tacos I’ve ever had. I eat gluten-free, and I’ve completely fallen in love with their corn tortillas. On top of that, their green hot sauce is delicious—the kind of salsa that makes you want to put it on everything. They also offer a great deal (possibly seasonal): three of the same breakfast tacos for just $4.79.

A heads-up on ordering: if you want the three-for-$4.79 special, your tacos must come from the breakfast taco menu. That works perfectly for me since I usually stick to breakfast tacos, but my spouse sometimes orders fajita tacos in the morning—which don’t qualify for the deal.

During one visit, I ordered the chorizo breakfast tacos on corn tortillas and asked to add cheese. What I expected was the breakfast version (with egg), but instead the server brought me plain chorizo and cheese tacos—more like a lunch item. Because of that mix-up, I was charged full price instead of the breakfast special. The flavor was fine, but without the egg, the chorizo was just too rich and overwhelming. I pointed directly at the breakfast menu when ordering, so I chalk this up to a communication slip.

Takeaway: double-check that you’re ordering from the breakfast taco menu if you want the special. Spell it out clearly to avoid confusion, especially if you’re dining with someone who orders non-breakfast items.

Despite that little hiccup, this is still my favorite taco spot for breakfast. Between the gluten-free corn tortillas, the great value, and that incredible green hot sauce, I’ll definitely keep...

Place needs a little more attention..service sucked.. got there, no one to greet us. Sat and was thinking of going to the counter to ask if we ordered there or if we get a menu. 3 waitreses and were just arguing among themselves. Finally, the waitress took a while get to ask for our drink order. Then the other waitress took our food order. I was very satisfied with my food but my boyfriend not so much. He is from guanajuato, and his food did not have the taste from there. He got the mole, and it barely had any sauce. We also asked the waitress who brought our food for a refill for his drink, and she just said yes and never came back. We also asked the girl that initially took our drink order and again never came back. I guess cleaning tables is a priority than to satisfy a customer. The girl that was at the table next to us, I guess she works there, and it was her day off, and she got up and got me my refill. Prices were fair. But I don't think k we will...

Stopped by as we traveled through on 9/4 The lady at the cash register seemed nice. She seated us. They took our drink order (literally 20 min wait to get drinks) then took our food order. The brought out 2 plates and the rest of our party waited while 2 people ate. Then they brought out 2 more. We are still waiting on 1 more plate at this point. Also I ordered Chorizo & eggs which had obviously sat there because when I received it they were cold. Finally the waitress came back and said she had given another diner the wrong dish and would need to re order the plate we were waiting on. We decided to just leave. Also we are pretty sure they still charged us for the plate we did not receive. Service was trash & prices...
