So I finally tried Jose's Tacos this morning and I gotta say I was not impressed. I bought a barbacoa, chicharron and bean and cheese and here is my review:
Bean and cheese is pretty basis so it was ok..the tortillas are NOT home made I don't care what they say. I know Mexican food and I can spot home made tortillas and store bought tortillas a mile away and the tortillas are store bought. But the beans had a good flavor and they were real not canned so it's edible. Definitely not worth it for the price..go to Hanna's or Monterey's for bean and cheese. Or even Los Gallos if you want a super taco.
Chicharron- I'm not sure what happened there but the chicharron was stringy and hard to chew. It was cooked in green salsa..as it should be but they were hard to swallow do to the stringyness of the meat and it had very little marbling so if it was not for the salsa I would not have been able to eat the taco. Again..not worth it for almost $3.00..go to Monterey's or El Regio..I think it's what the name ...pink building on San Antonio street.
Barbacoa- this taco made me mad as the meat is not barbacoa to begin with!! It is basically shredded beef (carne desebrada) and I've included a pic of it so you can see. I feel so robbed! Idk who they think they are trying to fool but they is most certainly NOT barbacoa! And I didn't even eat it cause it's not even good shredded beef to boot! It's dry and disgusting and they are not even trying with this taco. It's an abomination is what it is lol DO NOT get barbacoa tacos if you are wanting actual barbacoa. For barbacoa tacos go anywhere else but this place lol
Also, idk where these people are from but I've never heard of carrots and cucumbers on tacos. They must be from a pat of Mexico I've never heard of or maybe from NEW Mexico cause cucumber with tacos?? I don't think so. The salsa was also subpar.
Needless to say I will not be eating here again..I wish them all the best in the world and I'm sure there are people who like the tacos but not this Mexican. And they owe me $3.00 for the non barbacoa taco they...

Read moreAlthough they NEVER OPEN ON TIME, I must say this is my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant for breakfast tacos. They stuff them full ingredients. Their flour tortillas taste different from any other competitor restaurant in the area... theirs aren’t as “flour-y”/starchy tasting as everyone else and that’s what makes them stand out from the rest! I did get to try a torta from here and it was pretty good after tweaking a few ingredients. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone... just don’t go there at opening time and expect it to be open. Give them at least 45 minutes...
