The Palm Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in New Braunfels

So I was having a good day and I then I got hungry and I knew the Palm café was nearby and that they have decent food so I decided that I would get some from there, so I walked over there and I bought 1 carne quisada taco with cheese and 1 order of the chicken strips, I waited like 20 minutes and then I finally got my food and so I walked home, I got home and went straight to my room to eat, I ate the carne quisada taco and it was delicious, then I moved on to the chicken strips, I ate 1 and it was good, then I moved on to the second one and it tasted funny, I looked at it and it was raw! The chicken was uncooked! I had already swallowed one bite of it and so I just immediately became disgusted and I started dry heaving, I tried to throw up the uncooked food but I just couldn't, so now there is a chance I could get sick, I called back and told them what had happened and they said just to go back and we'll settle it there so I said okay and I went back. I had gone back with the intention of just getting a refund and leaving it at that, but nope they had decided that they would just replace the chicken strips and have it over and done, so I just said okay and accepted their apology and I took the replacement order and went back home, they didn't even want to discuss anything like they said!? I'm just disgusted and upset and completely done witht that place, this isn't even the first time that they've messed up my order, it's in fact the 4th time that they've ruined my meal and my appetite, you think after 3 times of wrong food and extremely low proportions compared to the norm that I would be done with the palm cafe already, I generously & foolishly thought that after months after my last awful visit that there was no chance that they could possibly mess up again, I was wrong. So next time you go to the palm cafe, please be sure to check you're food before you eat it, otherwise be prepared for...

I LOVE the food, palm cafe is my favorite Mexican food in town. However, the service I just received makes me hesitant to return. And I'm a regular here. Amanda, our waitress was less than negligent. Took 15 minutes to get our drinks and chips, she would disappear and other staff would finally see us annoyed and bring us things (silver ware, refills on chips and salsa, drink refills, our food finally, etc.) We had to wait 10 minutes for a highchair when my busy 2 year old was sitting in my pregnant lap. Then we were charged for too many drinks and to go cups for the kids drinks without being advised prior of the $1.50 to go cup fee. When we attempted to correct it the waitress was rude, was still not understanding the issue, AND never came back to our table with the refund! I'm so unimpressed with the staff I witnessed today and IF we return, I'll specifically ask for another waitress. One of the least attentive waitstaff...

This cafe has some good breakfast tacos and plates. So far I've had no issues in ordering or orders being wrong, however I feel like the prices are a bit high and the only other complaint I have is the Barbacoa tacos are not what I'm used to getting and know as barbacoa. . The meat was like stringy type meat or shredded, and the taste made it hard to take a second bite.. I don't say that to turn anyone away because the food is good, the place is clean and the wait staff are really good at what they do. I would recommend trying their great food just not the barbacoa...its definatly an A+ restaurant and service...
