I know this is long winded but worth the read.
Well…after a week of anticipation my wife and I finally went out for our 39th wedding anniversary to Myron’s Steakhouse in New Bruansfel. After a 10 min search for parking we made it just in time for our reservation. As we walk in, we were greeted immediately and shown to our table. The ambiance was one of an elegant establishment. Low lighting, white table cloths, and candles. We knew this was not going to be an inexpensive dinner reading the menu. Let’s start by no one acknowledging our Anniversary as the special occasion I noted on the reservation. Nor did the waiter asked as he introduced himself. No big deal…high-end establishment would had that in the notes I left on the reservation.
For the the appetizer, we order the scallops…amazing. (Only got two for $26.00)😳
Ordered drinks and then finally the meal, I’m not a salad fan so the server kindly suggest a soup in lieu of the salad. ($10.00 added to the bill) and it was a creamy chicken soup similar to a Soup and Salad Restaurant…lukewarm to boot. I had the Filet and Shrimp in the Myron’s Butter (Medium). My wife ordered the Salmon along with Jalapeño Mac n Cheese, Potato Strings, and Broccoli and Cheese for the sides a la cart of course.
We’ll I’ll just say this…very disappointed. My steak was overcook and dry. When the waiter told me to cut into the center I commented that it was a little over cooked. Instead of sending back, (my mistake) I just ate half of it. I didn’t want my wife eating alone while I stared at her. The shrimp were mediocre, the Myron’s butter was tasteless. I would have done better with an H‑E‑B Filet, Argentine Shrimp and H‑E‑B butter. My wife was happy with her’s but nothing to brag about. Sides where just ok. I’ve ate at several high-end steakhouses across the country. Myron’s is not even close. If you’re gonna act like one…be like one.If your charging high-end prices…at least serve high-end food quality. Again I knew what we were gonna pay, so sticker shock wasn’t the issue. I was expecting the food quality to match the price. I understand the owner was inspired by the Old San Francisco Steakhouse. We’ll…you know how that Steakhouse ended up. I wish them well, but they won’t see me again. My wife and I would give it a 3 Star rating at best. Food worth was ~$120.00. Our bill was $250.00 with tip. Agree with other reviews, at best a restaurant chain quality food or cook yourself. Luckily for Myron’s there’s a constant flow of out town visitors to keep them going. P.S the butterscotch candies...
Read moreThis review is for the New Braunfels location. The short version- Amazing experience. Food was freaking delicious, service was top-notch. Ambiance was perfect for date night.
The long version- We drove in from Wimberley. This was our first nice dinner out in a very long time, so we were looking firward to an evening away from the kids.
We had made a reservation on Open Table. We arrived a few minutes early and we're immediately seated at a cozy table. The lighting was dim and romantic.
Josh and Pierce were our service staff for the night. They both were friendly and professional. Top-notch service!
I ordered a chocolate martini. It was dangerously delicious and I was a bit sad I could only have the one (I was driving and I have a fairly low alcohol tolerance). Husband ordered the Stella beer. He was happy it was on the drink list, as it's one of his favorites. The beer/wine/cocktail list is quite extensive, something for everyone who enjoys an adult beverage!
We ordered the escargot appetizer. It was buttery and garlicky and just so yummy. Honestly, best escargot I've had! My husband took Josh's suggestion and ordered the 16oz strip. The crust was perfect, and the steak was cooked exactly rare, just the way we like it. It was tender and juicy. We appreciated the very light seasoning, because a good steak doesn't need a bunch of fluff, and the quality of the beef was such that the flavor of the meat stood up on its own. I have to say, we almost never order steak when we go out, because We're usually disappointed. We buy quality steak to cook at home and I cook it perfectly. We would order steak ay Myron's over and over again!
I ordered the live main lobster. I have never seen such a huge lobster claw! The lobster was luscious, everything lobster is supoosed to be.
The sides, garlic mashed potatoes and spinach augratin were seasoned perfectly.
For dessert my husband had the pecan pie al a mode, and I had the bread pudding in Makers Mark sauce. Oh. My. Gosh. I highly recommend both!
We never had to ask for refills. Our table was promptly cleaned between courses. The pace of the meal was perfect, we never felt rushed to eat one course, nor did we wait too long between courses. Perfect timing. Josh and Pierce both checked on us enough to show us we were important to them, but not so much that we felt annoyed.
We highly recommend Myron's in New Braunfels for your next date night or special occasion. When we go back, we'll ask for Josh and...
Read moreWe went to Myron’s on Saturday night and it was quite disappointing. The service was extremely poor. The food was marginal for the price point, for their prices the overall experience should be exceptional. I won’t drag this out but here’s the highlights of failures. We were seated quick (big positive), then it’s hill from there. We sat at our table and immediately a young man gave us bread and a glass of water (great job) he said I’m here to help you server is there anything you need and we said yes how about a drink sorry can’t do that but your server can. 10 mins later our server says sorry I’ll be right with you. Another 10 mins go by and he finally returns. We order two drinks off their drink menu. My wife orders a strawberry drink once again off the menu. We don’t see our waiter again with our drinks for 15 mins. My drink is correct and he brings my wife a glass of bourbon on the rocks (nothing close to what she ordered. He disappears again for 10 mins I ask him what drink is this and he said that’s what you ordered. Nope we order the strawberry drink, oh yea sorry I’ll get it for you. We ordered dinner. Guess what again gone for 15 mins no drink. He brings our salads with wrong dressing, I said forget it give me mine and he says I’ll be back with my wife’s with correct dressing. When he gets back we ask about our drink he says the bar is backed up. Only problem we walked right by the bar and it was very slow. (I was a bar tender many years ago). Our food shows up and we tell our waiter forget the drink we’ll just eat dinner and go. He says no problem and brings the drink and says don’t worry we won’t charge you for it and I’ll take off one of the sides for the inconvenience tonight. We finish dinner the food was just ok (about like Outback steak house) we ask for the check and guess what. He charged us for the drink but did take one vegetables off the bill. My wife said forget it, it will take him another 15 mins to correct the bill and I want to get out of here. So we just paid and left. I would not recommend eating here the service is terrible for this price point and the food is marginal. Go to Montana Mikes of Outback and enjoy your dinner. We will...
