After hearing such great things about this ice cream shop, I was highly disappointed with our very first visit to Scoop Street on Sunday 3/17/24. We asked for gluten free options, but the employees kept recommending vegan options to us. Gluten free is not the same as vegan. In fact, they were trying to get us to eat the cookie dough ice cream, which couldn't be further from gluten free. That could've made us extremely sick if we didn't know how to advocate for our food allergy. They were running low on several flavor options. I asked for hot fudge on my ice cream, but I was told they're out of that too. So I picked a flavor that I didn't really want because they didn't have what I was really looking for, and I couldn't even get the one topping that would've made up for it.
Then when we finally got our cups of ice cream, my scoop was significantly smaller than my husband's, because they were low of that flavor too, yet we paid the same price for each. I kind of felt jipped and I also can't get over how they were recommending a glutinous item thinking its the same as vegan. I wonder how many celiac patients they've poisoned with their lack of basic food allergy knowledge. They said that the owner puts something in the coffee ice cream that makes it have gluten. I've never heard of coffee ice cream being unsafe for celiac patients.
Their exact recommendation for gluten free options were: Honey Walnut Cookie Dough Mango
So not even the strawberry flavor is gluten free? Nope.
At least the flavor of the ice cream was decent, but it's not enough for us to be...
Read moreI recently went here and had a okay experience. The employees did their job, not much guest interaction or recommendations of anything. They just kind of stared at us.
I had the Vietnamese coffee ice cream and the banana pudding ice cream. Scoops are a bit small, but otherwise the flavors and texture were both good. I would have liked to sit inside but seating is limited.
I would have considered going back and I love to support locally owned businesses, HOWEVER, after reading the owners history of snarky and immature responses to peopleâs feedback am very disappointed. You wonât always hear that things are great but how you respond to it shows a lot about your character and heart for...
Read moreThe best ice cream in New Braunfels and one of our favorite weekly family traditions. This place never disappoints. They have some incredible mainstay flavors like the Taro, Vietnamese coffee, cookies and cream. Every few weeks they come out with a few new interesting flavors or bring back old seasonal favorites. They always have delicious dairy free options. The texture of the ice cream is awesome, always so smooth, never icey. Also, it seems strange, but they really do have the best craft beer singles selection in New Braunfels! Every Tuesday night they do two dollar scoops of ice cream! Very...
