I would suggest that you not waste your time or your money on this Stout's Pizza location. We typically eat 46th Street Pizza, but they are closed on Sunday, and we decided to try something new. Stout's Pizza looks good on their website and they had decent reviews. We placed an order via phone for take-out, the person taking the order repeated it back - perfectly - to us...medium pepperoni and a medium Stout's Special and breadsticks. The total for 2 medium pizzas and garlic breadsticks was almost $50...which is ok, I don't mind paying for really good pizza, which was what I was expecting. I drove the 15 minutes each way for pickup, it smelled amazing in the car. However, when we got home, we found 2 very sad looking, cold pizzas...one with only pineapple on it and one that in no way resembled anything that would be close to the Stout's Special. I called the restaurant to tell them we got the incorrect order, and she said she was almost positive she gave me the correct order. The fact that she did not apologize then and there should have been my first clue. I didn't ask for a refund and to keep the pizza...I asked for my order to be made right...hello...why would I even bother calling if the order was correct?!? She asked me to drive back to bring them the order so we could straighten it out. I asked if my order would be remade by the time I arrived because I lived a good bit away and this was very inconvenient and the pizza was already cold. My second clue should have been her non-committal attitude to having a new order ready for me. When I arrived, she tried to tell me that I picked up the correct order...despite the fact that I informed her that the correct order was repeated back to us on the phone and there was NO WAY we ordered a pineapple only pizza, which is just really gross in the first place. Also, the 2nd pizza, which was supposed to be the Stout's special with tomatoes, garlic, pepperoni, sausage and fresh basil looked like a pepperoni pizza with about 4 pieces of sausage...no tomatoes, garlic or basil to be seen. Never once did she apologize, even when she said the person taking the order must have misheard pineapple instead of pepperoni, even though I had already explained how that could not be the case...not one apology. She also went through the order with me - again, as if to keep insisting that I picked up the correct order. At that point, I insisted on a refund. The manager came out, did not apologize, processed the refund and that was it. Zero apology from any employee in that restaurant. Like I said, do not waste your time or money here...go to 46th Street Pizza at Bulverde or New York...
Read moreWaking in, i was met with a clean cool environment that had that baked pizza oven smell. The lighting was not over powering, music light in the background. Menu simply laid out on chalk lol sign. About 8 drafts on tap for the beer drinkers and a Coke soda machine in the back. Staff was pleasant, kept to themselves and let me just do my thing. It was 3:44 pm on a Monday, but they stayed busy and were polite.
The pizza was a shot at the basics, 16 inch pizza extra pepperoni, extra mushrooms, and extra cheese. The slices were on a tanned crust with a soft middle. Sauce was sweet and put mositure in the pizza, but did not make a wet pie. I was challenging them to make me a heavy slice, and while there were extra toppings, the pizza dodged that “break the oven” thickness I was seeing if they could produce. They wisely kept the pizza within range of being able to cook without much fuss and 20 mins later I had a steaming pizza.
The senses picked up on the tomatoes and spices wafting in the steam, while the pepperoni was missing the browning process that the cheese did get kissed with. Preference aside, there wasn’t a bit without the mushroom, pepperoni, and cheese trifecta and it did well to suit the hunger.
The price was a smidge on the high side, I could have fed 2 hungry adults and one child, or 3 adults on this pie. 27.50 with tip, but in fairness I did put 6 bucks if extras on top and that inflated the price, but I think actually detracted from the product they intend to sell. If I had let the pie bake with less, I think the experience would be different and the taste review different.
Highly recommend, family place but 2 large pizzas, naked start at 32 dollars, a fair price for feed a family. No origami options for anyone who doesn’t want pizza, just the standard items from a stone oven.
Recommend and will come again to try a...
Read moreI would like to apologize to Abi for not having wrote this last night like promised…..
My boyfriend and I went last night for our long awaited date night and let me tell you, Abi did not disappoint on the recommendations. I wanted a margarita pizza, and my boyfriend didn’t. Abi suggested I get mine as a calzone for myself, while he got his own calzone to his liking and we get a pizza, pepperoni rolls, and cheesy bread to share. Yes, we ordered a lot of food for only 2, but it was SO GOOD! The quality of the ingredients were phenomenal. My mozzarella was so juicy inside of my calzone, the pepperoni rolls were extremely cheesy, and the pizza was amazing. I’ve been here a few times myself, and my boyfriend is upset I never shared this gem of a pizza place with him. Stouts is definitely an underrated pizza shop in New Braunfels and deserves more recognition. And if Abi didn’t go above and beyond with my tired cranky self, this visit would not have been what it was. Thank you to Abi for taking care of us so well and making our date night one...
