Starbucks — Restaurant in Newington

I’m here regularly because I work in the plaza by it, also in food service, so I know how much it can suck. That out of the way, several employees here are just flat out mean. There are some that are great, but I’ve had enough uncomfortable experiences here that I won’t be returning even if it’s the closest Starbucks to my workplace. I have heard employees say downright nasty things about each other and other customers. The final straw for me was when I was in the other day an employee made some kind of a mistake entering in a customer’s drink order in the drive thru and the two employees at the espresso machines started outright talking about how stupid she was. I was one of probably 10 people gathered around waiting for drink orders. There’s just no reason for that. I don’t care how stressful the job is and really I get it. When I walked in, I was 2nd or 3rd in line. I browsed the displays of snacks and mugs while I waited. Girl behind the counter gave me the stressed by impatient customers forced smile and said she'd be right with me. I smiled and said no rush. I always have an almond milk latte. This time I also wanted the egg bites. I ordered both of the two kinds available. She said that they come in two packs and I couldn't get one of each. I explained that they're kinda small, so I wanted both. Two packs of two. One set of each variety. She's like "Oh ok if you're sure." I'm a size 2, and I felt like I was being judged based on my body. Honestly I was never a fan of the Starbucks chain up until a friend of mine brought me to this one, something about how open and spacious this starbucks is drew me in, and the music they have on the overhead is simple soothing. The best cantina relaxation Playlist I have heard in a while. Its so easy to just zone in and focus on your work without distractions, most likely due to the starbucks being a stones toss away from campus (Central Connecticut State University) no doubt.
