Visited MooYah Burgers 24 Fenn Rd, Newington, CT at 6:10:58 pm and ordered for two for dine in, Order # AAA9JL94ACBH.
While waiting for our order to be prepared, employee Raphael came to the dining room, adjusted a floor mat with gloved hands. I immediately followed Raphael to the pickup window where I observed him to go directly to the grill and started flipping burgers and then proceed to handle food without stopping to change gloves. I asked if he was making my sandwiches and he responded "yes".
I stated he had not changed his gloves after touching and moving the floor mat. He got belligerent and started saying he did change them. I told him I watched him the whole time and now he gets defensive and starts shouting and arguing with me still refusing to change gloves, constantly saying i could not see him. I stated he had no time to remove and put on a new pair of gloves in the short amount of time to walk from the dining room to the grill. He then shouts "just because you're having issues at home doesn't mean you can take them there". We argued back and forth in front of several customers for several minutes as I called him out on several lies.
He said there were cameras everywhere and I stated show me the tape if that is true. He shouted do I want my food or not? To which I stated not what he just made since he used dirty gloves.
I told him I wanted to speak to the manager and his response was "I am the manager", which was another lie. The manager did eventually approach and told the employee to leave the scene to which he refused. The manager apologized and agreed to remake my order.

Read moreAlright, I was impressed with Mooyah. They rival Five Guys for the best burgers.
Here's my first impression:
Location: The restaurant itself has a clean and comfortable aesthetic. Easy to get to and has lots of parking.
Service: My food was declared ready one minute after the time I set to pick it up. That's not a big deal, but they weren't busy at all when I got there (a Sunday around 5pm). I've usually had my food prepped slightly early at other restaurants when they're not busy. Interaction with servers was neither good nor bad.
Menu: I ordered on the website, which was very easy and responsive. Better than the five guys app. I get overwhelmed with massive menus, but theirs is sussinct. Customizing orders is easy, too.
Food: I got a bacon burger with avocado and sweet potato fries to share.
The burgers are big, which makes it a good value, but they can also start to fall apart from having too many layers.
Patties were well-done, not sure if you can ask for them to prepare them differently.
The avocado was ripe and fresh. Nobody likes crunchy or brown avocados, so I'm glad for that.
My grilled onions were papery. I don't think it was properly peeled. I probably got unlucky, but points off for this.
Overall, the flavor was excellent and the meal was filling.
I wasn't sure if the to-share size fries would really be enough to share, but they were. I'd equate it to what you might expect of two large fries from other restaurants.
So, maybe 4.8 stars for the first time visit, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because it seems they're usually a 5...
Read moreI’ve never heard of this chain but I read the reviews so we gave it a whirl. Firstly, they are super pricey for fast food. $17 for a combo…?? I’m not sure what’s driving that high price but it makes sense why the parking lot is empty.
Anywho… he had a cheeseburger and said it was good. He mentions it was a better tasting burger but not worth paying that much for a burger. I had the Diablo hot dog and it was fantastic! Great level of heat and tasted fresh. Would’ve been nice if they had put more mayo on it because the bun is so large, you only get the moistness in the center of the bun. The rest of the bun just dries your mouth out.
Overall, I think it was good food. They should really evaluate their pricing…or… put enough condiments on it that a customer isn’t left wondering why they paid $10 for a hot dog that is 50% dry bread. I don’t feel like I got a good value for the amount of money I paid.
I listed service as a 1 only because I ordered and paid via the screen and never interacted with anyone until it was time to pickup my order. I had never been in one of these locations and I didn’t see where they had the back menu and a place to order until I was getting our food and walking out. Pic three where it says “order here” - I only saw that while leaving. Lol
Doubtful I’ll return to another one of these locations but happy to try something new on our way...
