Today, April 14th, I had the pleasure of eating at Hansel ‘n Griddle located on Easton Ave in New Brunswick, NJ. Considering the establishment is located in the heart of New Brunswick there wasn’t a parking lot on site. However, that wasn’t an issue because we parked on a side street for free relatively close to the restaurant. I went with my mother and our bill was about thirty dollars with tip. It wasn’t the typical setup that you expect when going to a restaurant but the food was still up to par. We ordered our food at the counter, grabbed our drinks from the fridge, and then chose a table to sit at. We waited about ten minutes for our food to be brought to the table. I ordered buttermilk pancakes and bacon and my mother ordered a steak crisp. I would describe the “crisp” as one of their unique dishes similar to a quesadilla. The food was flavorful. While waiting for the food I ventured to a sign that looked enticing, “Free Pickles.” That was something unique that I’ve never seen at a restaurant in New Brunswick, nevermind any restaurant alone. The aesthetic of the establishment was exciting with bright green walls, Rutgers paintings on the walls, and sunlight beaming in from the large windows in the front of the restaurant. We entered the restaurant at 12:00 p.m. and left closer to 12:45 p.m. Overall, Hansel ‘n Griddle was a great experience and I will certainly be making my way back.

I visited Hansel 'n Griddle on Wednesday evening, December 4th, for a quick dinner. Located at 130 Easton Ave in New Brunswick, the diner occupies a busy corner spot. Parking, however, was a bit of a challenge since there’s no dedicated parking lot, and I had to find a curbside spot nearby. My meal, the popcorn buffalo chicken crisp, cost around $15. The portion size was excellent - way bigger than I expected and very filling; it was definitely worth the money. There wasn’t a waiter, but the cashier was friendly taking my order promptly. The ambiance of Hansel 'n Griddle was warm and energetic, with calm music playing in the back. Despite the activity, the place was clean and well-kept, which made for a pleasant experience. I only waited about 5-7 minutes for my food. Since I arrived three hours before closing, the place wasn’t packed, but there was a constant stream of orders and people coming in and out. Other menu items like "The London Broil" and "Florentine Omelet" caught my eye for future visits. For those with dietary preferences, Hansel 'n Griddle has an entire section dedicated to vegetarian options. Popular picks include the Cheese Crisp and Mediterranean Wrap, which come highly recommended. The overall experience was great! Would recommend.

I’ve recently moved to NJ. This place have been raved about by everyone, so I’ve decided to try it. This is my second and final purchase. My first purchase had a very long hair strand on the box before I even opened it, I let that slide. But this time I won’t. I’m honestly displeased… I bought the banana flip with protein to hopefully avoid having hair in my food. On my first taste something cut my gum. I immediately removed the straw from my mouth and spat it out, only to see a piece of metal. I poured the rest of the smoothie out and there was another piece of metal in my cup (see photos). I called to inform them and the girl apologized and offered to make me another smoothie but I passed. She said she’d have the manager refund me and simply hung up. No info was taken from me, so how will I get the refund? How do they even know which customer it was? This was last Friday afternoon 8/29. Today is Monday 8/31. Unfortunately I can’t say the same like everyone. This please is unsafe and unprofessional by my experience.

If I could give a zero I would. I entered the restaurant tonight for food with my friends. Initially, I was blocked from entering & greeted with a nasty stare by an employee in his 20s (Male, Asian, blue hair) who refused to stop cleaning the door as we entered…we were sprayed with windex…mind you there was entire other hour left before they closed. I was then met by another employee at the register in her 30s/40s (Female, Caucasian, Red hair) who greeted us with “other register, also, you’re gonna have to wait.” I have extensive experience in food service and my initial welcome into your establishment met with rudeness and being sprayed with cleaning supplies should have been my red flag to go.

But in the spirit of having already entered the spot with my two other friends, I went to order a panini . I asked for potato wedges and popcorn chicken in the panini with Buffalo sauce and cheese. I was given a cold , falling apart sandwich with grilled chicken and tomatoes . If it was slightly wrong I would have let it go! Again I have worked as a waitress I know the stress of food service ! But it was not my order whatsoever !

When I approached the register to ask for it changed , the Asian male , yelled and insulted me saying I was, “ lying about what I ordered and we could argue all day, but he did not care about my order and would not be refunding my food. If I wanted something else I would need to pay for an entire other order.” The Caucasian Female employee then yelled ,”I’m not making her anything, she can eat her sandwich.”

Both employees, then proceeded to get together and yell at my friends, stating we were all “wasting their time,” as other diners looked on.

Needless to say I will never be returning, and those two are gonna put you out...

Very good place to eat and food is quality and very tasty here for the most part and I have been going here for years as I live in the area. Overall decent prices but don't like the $2 delivery charge as we like to tip well and with this added in and money being tight it makes it hard to take care of the fast delivery drivers. Also the point system for getting free smoothies etc. would be great except for the fact that you have to use it with 2 weeks which is way to soon to have to come back and use it. I understand the point is to get the customer back in the door asap but this always goes to waste for us as we are monthly/bimonthly customers and rarely able to capitalize on this even tho we have spent a lot of money there over the yrs. I also brought this up to whom ever was working at the time as we were a few days over the 2 week period after spending $80 mind you for a recent order and the manager told us there was nothing she could do which come on is pretty darn ridiculous. Any good place knows to take care of there regulars and this left a bad taste in mouth so I have not gone here much since this incident but eventually when I crave a cajun chicken ceasar wrap or their amazing mushroom Monday's soup I will be back as it is to good to pass up. Anyways the owner of this place is a great guy and knows how to run a good restaurant. The good def out weighs the bad and like I said earlier the food is really good here depending on exactly what you order. So def check them out and don't be discouraged by the rewards system comments I wrote. Just something that should be change in mine and others I've talked to opinion about this...

I have written both an email and a note via your website about my experience from 2/23 but have yet to receive a response so am posting here since reviews seem to elicit a response.

I live across the river from you in Highland Park and I placed an order for delivery on the evening of 2/23 via your website. This was my second time ordering your food for delivery, the first being through DoorDash. I decided to use your website on 2/23 after receiving a flyer that encouraged me that direct service with you would be cheaper and more expeditious than a third party. I also wanted to keep all my money with you so as to put full support into small business.

I placed my order at 621pm and received confirmation that my food would be delivered by 7pm. When 7pm came and went, I called your store and the representative told me that the food was ready but that they were waiting on DoorDash to pick it up. Highly confused since I was under the impression you employ your own drivers, I asked for anticipated delivery time and was told sometime before 8.

My food arrived at my house at 745pm- just shy of an hour and a half after I placed the order. It was cold and soggy, and I anticipate not anywhere near the quality you try to provide. I love your menu and variety of options but sadly, I can’t in good faith recommend your food to anyone after my experience that night. Further, it makes me want to order through DoorDash after all as through them, there is some sort of recourse always provided for issues of this nature. What can you do to rectify...
