Blackbird — Restaurant in New Canaan

This was our 2nd time at this restaurant. We were so enamoured with the Black Seabass dish containing morel mushrooms and a divine pea puree, we returned and ordered the same dish. We were sadly disappointed. The chef changed an award winning dish- (it was perfect! ) by replacing the delicious pea puree with a mustard sauce (which I did not eat as I have an intense dislike for mustard) and inexplicably removed the mushrooms from the dish. This turned the dish into Black Bass with asparagus which I would say was good, but not great. The service was just fine, fast and provided by an eager to please server. You may wonder why we ordered a dish which was altered - the reason is we looked up the menu online before we made the same-day reservation so when we arrived, we did not scrutinize the changed menu as we should have....

WOW Blackbird is an incredible restaurant! My husband and I dined here on 3/30 for dinner. Everything was perfect. The service was fantastic, the decor is very cool, and the music was the cherry on top of impeccable ambiance. We tried three different cocktails and they were all fantastic, unique, and artistic. We shared the spicy tuna roll as an appetizer and it is a must get. It was so different than any spicy tuna roll that I’ve ever had - I wish that we had each got our own because it was so delicious. My husband got the pork and loved the flavor. I had the zoodles which were light and very fresh. We finished off with the sticky toffee pudding which was heavenly. I can’t wait to come back, there were so many items on the menu that we wanted to try. Come for the food stay...

Really liked this place the apps, drinks and meal were great but I was very disappointed in the service it felt extremely rushed. The waiters asked for our food order as soon as we sat down (didn’t even look at the menu yet) and said we had to order our apps and meal at the same time.

We had a 7:00 reservation for a birthday celebration and were asked at 8:30 if we could move to the bar because people wanted our seats and they were being angry. We didn’t even have the table for 2 hours which is a regular table time minimum.

I highly recommended this restaurant to stop taking so many reservations at once that they cannot handle seating and making your guests feel rushed. With the price of our bill it shouldn’t be a rushed experience as we...
