A vegetarian Arsenal pub? Instantly my spiritual home! I travelled from New York to meet my friend from New England halfway at this place to watch an Arsenal game. Be in no doubt: this is first and foremost an Arsenal pub, and if you can get there on a match day as I did, the New Haven Gooners will give you a very warm welcome for the crazy atmosphere you will enjoy. On the morning I visited (they open an hour before kickoff on all Arsenal match days) they had a fully vegan breakfast menu. I adored the French toast, absolutely outstanding, worth the trip for that alone - and the fries with it were salty and perfect. But the accompanying fixings were a bit deep fried and greasy, perhaps a harbinger of things to come - the plantains for dessert were really disappointing, in a bitter cheap chocolate sauce for $13 when you add tax and tip wasn't worth it. Still, I'd definitely come again for the football, and would definitely have that French toast...

We had a delightful brunch at this cozy little bar. We found that they have an almost entirely vegan menu, which is what we always go for when available. The vegan menu is fantastic, portions are big, lovely presentation and left happy and full. We shared the Full Breakfast (very much like an English Breakfast: tofu scramble, grilled tomato and mushrooms, roasted potatoes, carrot bacon, and beans). We also had the tofu scramble wrap and the avocado toast. TBH the carrot bacon needs some work but I think they are really trying to fine-tune their menu. Our server/manager, Jake, was great. We spent some time talking about menu and told me they will be offering pies, like steak and ale! He even gave me one to try. We...

The Cannon has seriously strong roots, big goals and more heart than you see most places. We stopped in after hearing of it's opening St. Patrick's day weekend and was warmly greeted by Kevin (who we later found out was the owner), pulled up a seat at the bar, and took in the atmosphere. Relaxed soccer club, punk bar vibes, with (not over the top) hipness. They didn't have bar service (but soon!), but did have a cool menu that was Vegan and Vegetarian! They put the effort in everywhere it counts, fresh baked bread, house made sauces, and approach the food with finesse and respect. Yes- it's still getting its legs but I fully expect this to be the in town...
