It's important to put The Suites at Yale-New Haven into context. The "suites" are attractive, the staff is helpful, and everything appears to be well maintained. BUT: The Suites are located in an area that everyone (and I mean everyone including hospital staff and security people) emphatically warned us NOT to walk in, even during the day. The upside of that is that security will shuttle you back and forth to the hospitals in a reasonably timely and pleasant fashion.||There is plenty of parking in the secured lot.||There is no place to eat in the immediate vicinity. There are two work-arounds, i.e., New Haven has lots of really good restaurants that can be reached via Lyft and Uber, and the suites have complete kitchens including pots, pans, a dishwasher, plates, and flatware.||Rooms are cleaned only every fourth day—but clean sheets and towels are available upon request.||There is no night staff: All staff leaves at 8 p.m. and reappears at 8 a.m. Check-in times are closely proscribed, i.e., M-F 2-7, Saturday 12-2, andSunday 2-7. ||Rooms that front on the street are fairly noisy with trucks and other loud vehicles pretty much 24/7.||Coffee service is available all day. Snacks such as peanut butter crackers and granola bars are offered in the morning.||The room we were in had a bathtub and no walk-in shower. (Someone didn't think this one through too well.)||Because the Suites specifically service the hospitals, they are very flexible if you end up getting to leave earlier than expected or need to extend your stay.||Hopefully I won't have to use The Suites again, but if I must go back to New Haven for medical purposes, I would most...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place to stay! My brother had a kidney transplant and this was a perfect place to recover. We were able to visit him and take care of him as family. It was close enough to the hospital for his follow up appointments and also for his nurses to visit him. The hospital security offers free transportation from the hospital to the Suites and back! The building is in a great location, close enough to everything. It's very clean and nicely decorated. The suites are huge and beautiful! They have everything you need. The beds and pillows are comfortable. It has a separate room, bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room and office desk. It has great pots and pans, silverware, glasses and nice plates. The kitchen has a nice size fridge and top stove. The staff is wonderful. The building is very quiet and it has great security to enter the gate and the front doors. You don't see anyone wandering around outside. It's real private. I would definitely...
Read moreThe Suites has made it possible for my Dad to even consider entering a drug trial at Smilow Cancer Center. We have a long drive to make every three weeks now, and if there weren't this welcoming, comfortable, accommodating, affordable place for us to stay overnight I don't know if we would be able to make it work. The rooms are quiet, the beds are comfortable, the towels are soft, the staff is helpful and pleasant, every detail has been anticipated and done well. Our first visit they even provided us with delivery menus for local restaurants so that all we had to do once we got there was rest. The free transportation to the hospital and free parking made a huge difference as well. We are amazed by how thoughtfully run this place is, and we are so grateful that it is there! We will be spending many nights here, and it makes this journey so much more comfortable. Thank...
