Seafood Connection of New Iberia — Restaurant in New Iberia

Me and the family decided to come here to eat some crawfish. I felt that this visit came up too short. I'm not sure if it was just bad timing this visit or what the deal was because previous reviews were 5 stars.

GOOD: Let's start with the good. The food for all of us was good. My fiancé and my step-daughter both had 2 lbs of crawfish, which they said tasted great. I personally had the crawfish etoufee, which I thought tasted great. The atmosphere was average, but still not terrible. The pricing wasn't too bad either for the cost of everything considered.

BAD: Service was TERRIBLE. Waitress kept playing around, not being attentative. None of the others offered to make sure we were taken care of. The building's parking lot is always so full and clustered terribly. The selection on the menu is small, and the overall condition of the building seems like it's getting worse.

OVERALL: I wanted to give this place a higher score because they've never let us down in the past. We may return at a later date, but please do better. This place...

If it were just for the service my rating would be a 5! Our server was attentive in that she doubled back twice after we had our food to see if we need anything.

Now the food:

*1/2 Dozen Crabs. My dining partner made no complaints. The crabs looked to be seasoned and full of crab meat.

*20 Piece Shrimp meal. The shrimp were a nice size and served hot, but I didn’t taste any seasoning. The fries were ok, but of a warm temperature.

*To go Seafood Platter. The fish was seasoned well. As for the other items, there was no complaint from my hubby. The only complaint is the salad dressing was missing from the order and the stuffed crab was dry.

*Atmosphere. It was ok, but the paper towels on the table had ketchup on the top from others holding it to tear off a piece. That’s kind of gross. We were there when it opened so I’m sure the stains were from a previous day.

*Prices. The prices are adorable. You will get your money’s worth.

The food is always great. They have an excellent seafood gumbo & their fried super shrimp platter is a must.

Update from our latest visit...we don't understand why the beer is NEVER cold whether it's draft or bottles. Also, they were pretty slow tonight so they started mopping the dining room at 8pm while we were eating. The smell of the cleaning solution was very strong & made my wife nauseous & not able to enjoy the rest of her food. None of this will stop us from going back & I'm not trying to turn people off to the place. Hopefully just some constructive feedback for the owners to figure out how to serve the coldest beer possible & maybe hold off on mopping with cleaning products until the last customer is finished eating. Otherwise, the food is always great & we love supporting...
