I came to NOLA for a week and visited all kinds of fancy places, NONNO’S was the only one that inspired me to leave a review. This place has E VE RY THING!!! The food is amazing, the place unpretentious, the prices are a bargain and you can tell that they’re not just for the profit. NONNO’S is a labor of love. The food has soul and the ambiance has grit. We went there for breakfast and it was -packed- so we decided to come back for dinner when it was less crowded. Their breakfast menu is all day but their lunch menu starts at 2pm. The steak and eggs was meant for a king and the chargrilled oysters were the best I had in NOLA and I must’ve had them in at least seven different places, yet NONNOS had their own special touch. You’ll really be missing out if you don’t visit. I’m not posting any photos other than the outside since I don’t want to ruin the surprise. Thank you NONNO’S for having us and looking forward to come back some day. Much love.

We enjoyed a late breakfast ( they serve breakfast all day!) at Nonno’s and , what a breakfast it was! Don’t miss this spot- it is situated nicely on a corner which adds to a sweet neighborly feel. Perhaps you will be treated to some karaoke singing like we were - coffee and a little Al Green! They brew a strong cup and the food was delicious. The French toast- made using pistolet , was perfect without adding a thing- beef sausage prepared split and just right to make it crisp on the edges and the eggs? I am sure you have never had eggs like these - seasoned and exactly over medium. Creamy grits adorned with shrimp and a griddled biscuit! Came home with leftovers because I ate that biscuit hot first! Lucky me, I get to have shrimp and grits again in the morning . If you are fortunate, maybe you can have a chat with Shermond , the owner before you leave . We are so happy to have discovered a new favorite and we plan to be regulars.

There aren’t enough words to describe how AMAZING this place is. We’ve been here for breakfast 3 times during our 6 day trip. Firstly, the staff is very warm and welcoming. We came here directly after leaving the airport and we really got a glimpse of true southern hospitality. The first time I was here I ordered the French toast and eggs. OMG the French toast is soooooo good. It’s crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. The second day I got the shrimp omelette. Also out of this world. The omelette was huge and every bite had shrimp. The third time we came I got the fried chicken and French toast. Let me tell you something, I have NEVER had friend chicken so good. It was fried perfectly. Honestly the best fried food I’ve had the whole trip. Please run, don’t walk to this amazing family owned establishment. You will not be disappointed.

Disappointing First Visit with Kids - Poor Service Overshadows Average Food

Visited this restaurant for the first time with my children, hoping for a nice family meal. Unfortunately, the experience was far from positive, primarily due to extremely poor service.

Our waitress took our order but never returned with water, despite it being a basic expectation and I had mentioned it to her. We had to flag down the host, who was also was bringing our food, just to get water glasses. This lack of attentiveness from the server set a bad tone.

The food itself was just okay. I ordered the shrimp po' boy, and my kids shared the fried shrimp. The flavor was average – decent, but nothing special, and certainly not living up to the expectations we had.

The most upsetting incident happened at the end. After finishing, I was clearly looking around to pay. A gentleman at the bar (who I assume was the manager) noticed, came over, and I paid him directly. We then got up and left.

As we were walking out the door, our original waitress came running after me and my children, yelling that we hadn't paid. This was incredibly embarrassing and stressful, especially in front of my kids. I had to tell her to check with her manager, as I had just paid him moments before.

This combination of neglectful service (no water, lack of check-ins), mediocre food, and the humiliating payment mix-up completely ruined the meal. The staff clearly need better training and coordination, especially concerning payment handling and basic customer attention.

We will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant based on this experience. There are far better options for a family meal where you won't be chased...

Went here for breakfast on 3/26. My husband, and our friends. We went by accident as the place we actually was going was busy and a 45min wait. It was the BEST accident ever. This place was AMAZING. From the service, food and ambiance of the place. The service was excellent. Our waitress Jordan was wonderful and attentive. The best hot ☕ tea, I am picky about my tea, as well as our friend is here visiting from London and she also said best tea she's had so far. . Breakfast was great, I had just eggs, beef sausage and grits. I don't like grits so not for me, but I did taste it and for someone who don't eat grits I didn't think it was bad. I just don't like grits, however, my eggs and sausage were delicious. My husband and our friend had the French toast and they both loved it. Our other friend had a veggie seafood burrito, she said the seafood burrito 🌯 was delicious and it was huge, she ate it all. Our other friend who lives here in New Orleans commented this will be his new breakfast place it was that good. Him and my husband then decided to try their bread pudding which by the way is made in house. They have been comparing bread pudding everwhere they go after today this is the best one they said they have had. Kudos to the chef, and to the staff. This Black owned Restaurant is well worth checking out when visiting New Orleans. Did I mention the music was on point not loud, just perfect which added to the ambiance of the place. Thank you Nonno's for a wonderful experience. My husband and I will definitely be back when we visit New...

Ok? So I only had a few hours left in NOLA and wanted something tasty on my way out.

Enter, Nonna's.

I heard this was the spot for some bread pudding and I have certainly been craving it.

I believe my servers name was Erin? (I'm sorry if I got your name mistaken!)

Anyways, she'd just gotten back into serving and was just the kindest young woman.

Anyways, I asked for the bread pudding which she said is "pretty good" which of course I've heard before.

She asked if I'd like rum sauce where I mentioned my concern if the noose isn't cooked off given I'm still recovering, blah blah blah.

Ok, so it took a little longer than I expected, but I had all day so it was whatever.

Wel she sets this bowl down and a ramekin where she tells me Chef made a batch specially for me.

So kind (thanks guys!)

Anyways, I pour the sauce over and take a bite.

The sounds this bread pudding got out of me... my girlfriend would be jealous.

It was slightly firm like a bread pudding ought to be, but the texture was somewhere between Creme brulee & sweet potato pie.

I tried taking small bites to make it last, but to no avail, eventually it would be gone and I would be sad.

I wish I'd come earlier in the day when I had more space to have eaten more. Excuse I know it would have been amazing.

If nothing else, stop by, get a cup of coffee & this bread pudding, sit back and relax.

Woof.

So good.

Thanks Nonna's crew!

P.s. Kathi had an earlier flight, we're already planning a second trip this year and I will definitely be bringing...
