Edward found a place to try out this morning for breakfast. There was an interesting vibe throughout. The place looked well worn but very clean. A jukebox played 80’s music and a neon sign flashed “Faster” in two different colors of gas in two sets of glass tubing directed at the kitchen. The waiter was tatted up and had more hardware in his nose, lip, eyebrow, ears and face than he put down for us to eat with. He was high energy. Super fast. He apparently took the neon sign at its word. The menu had an enormous selection. I noticed the “Weird Goodies to Eat” section and decided on the The Bomb. Ed enjoyed pancakes and scrambled eggs with sausage. “Every Breath You Take” by The Police was playing over the speakers. I noticed the patrons. One was blind and really, really old. He seemed to be enjoying whatever it was he was eating but I couldn’t make it out. There were a couple of young folks sitting beside him and at the end of the area was an ancient man. He looked to be 103 if a day and was hunched over some eggs and seemed to be enjoying himself as much as everyone else. We were the the obvious tourists of the lot. Snapping pictures. Gawking. The food arrived and it was good. The waiter asked if I wanted any hot sauce and I declined but after a bite I realized the hot sauce would really make it zing. He was hard to flag down. He was nearly running from table to table. Ed got his attention with an arm flapping move and hot sauce was presented. “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears was playing as we ate. There were umpteen Polaroid photos on the wall. You noticed the fat pug as a standout. Then, after perusing more, you notice the joy. The diversity. The strange, interesting world that is New Orleans. “Blue Monday” by New Order was the last song playing as we left. It’s Sunday. I guess the timing was off if irony was the, oh never mind. That’s just my mind. Onward.

New Orleans, Louisiana --- 2nd visit to "Slim Goodies Diner" ... 1st visit around 7am with just 2 other customers, and today shortly before 11am, when chaos ruled ... consistency did not exist at "Slim Goodies Diner" (for me anyway) .., really great service 1st time, but bad service this time ... the 2 slices of bacon were chewey, cold & under-cooked 1st time, with the 2nd time 3 slices of perfectly-cooked crispy bacon ... one constant was the hash browns were cold both times, although the 1st hash browns were "swimming" in grease, but no visible grease the 2nd time ... my over-easy eggs were over-cooked 1st time (hard yolk) & under-cooked 2nd time (with clear stuff running out of eggs when I cut them) ... both servers did not bring me my biscuit/toast until I had eaten a good portion of my breakfasts ... coffee & water re-fills were right on 1st time, but 2nd time I sat with 2 "empty" liquid holders for an "extended" period (& it was not because of chaos, as I could see my server standing around) ... prices are high based on food quality & service $$$$ I do like the counter-seating snd outdoor patio seating options though 👍 day 044 "DUSA 2017" (Discover USA) "Run-A-Way Bill" was here! (again, but most likely not again) #RunAwayBill #DUSA2017 04.07.17 My visit today was good. I upgraded my rating to 4 stars. Would have been 5 stars if server “Josh” was not always ready to leave my table before he got there. I had a few compliments I would have liked to share & a question to ask, but there was no opportunity. “Josh” otherwise was a good server, bringing water 3 times without a request from me. I order the “Sinkhole” & was glad I did. The perfect menu selection for a person that is hungry & likes everything - EVERYTHING is in this enormous omelet! “Run-A-Way Bill” was here! ... and glad I was 👍 01.15.21

Soooooo Goooooood! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Best breakfast in New Orleans. Best Brunch! We dropped by after a 5K run. Super starving. We arrived a little after lunchtime on Saturday and manage to get a beautiful spot on the patio outside. Perfect weather. We just arrived and took our drink order . I can’t remember them all but they have some fantastic alcohol Breakfast beverages. tequila sunrise was the table favorite. And for those of us who were in need of hangover recovery, the bloody Mary was excellent, including bacon. Our server would magically show up anytime any of our glasses might be slightly full . Love this kind of service. Then we ordered food that sounded so good, but I didn’t exactly know what we would receive . I had the Tex Mex Slammer. I was worried they were going to overload it with hashbrowns, but it had the perfect amount of absolutely everything. Hashbrowns were crispy and delicious and my eggs were over easy perfectly. I was absolutely starving so I ordered the plantains with it as well. Again, perfectly cooked and delicious. My husband had the creole slammer. This is how he described it : The crawfish were fresh, the sauce was yummy, and everything went perfectly well together. It was served over crispy hashbrowns with a biscuit and eggs. Were sunny side up perfect perfection.

I really wanted to love this place, but I was highly disappointed.

The phone was not working, so I could not place my order over the phone. I went to the restaurant and decided to just eat there since I was going to have to wait for the food. I was greeted by the only friendly and welcoming server there. She told me the wait for going to be 20-30 minutes, so I decided to place a to-go order since I was pressed on time.

After looking over the menu, I decided to go with the burger. I went to place my order and noticed the hostess seemed very bothered that she had to take my order. As if it was a huge inconvenience that I need to place an order. I guess she didn't feel the need to be kind since an 18% gratuity is automatically added; instead of earning the gratuity by providing an excellent experience for the customer. She took the order and told me it'd be ready in 20 minutes.

I gave them 25 minutes and it was still not ready. While I was waiting for the burger, a server came rudely and told me I needed to move from the table so they could set other customers. She told me this while no one was in line for a table and while they had 3 other open tables. I did not move.

I waited about 15 more minutes to get the burger. After waiting 40 minutes for the burger, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the milkshake. A told of 55 minutes just to be extremely disappointed.

The burger was completely burnt, I guess that's why it took them 40 minutes to cook it. And the milkshake did not taste like a banana milkshake. It didn't have any flavor. It tasted like frozen milk. It was not worth the...
