Found this place by random chance and so glad I did. Finished up in the city ahead of scheduled and went to felipes, but it was only 10am and they don't open until 11am. Did a quick Google search for mexican and this place came up a block away.
Greeting right away and they brought out free chips and salsa which were perfect. Ordered some queso dip which was pretty large size (2 can easily share) for only 3$. It was a yellow dip, but I was hoping for white. The taste was ok, about average, 7/10. Poured the salsa and some cheese over the remaining tortilla chips which taste pretty amazing once you combine it all.
No clue what else to order since I had my mind on a fried shrimp bowl at felipes when I came here. Went with a barbacoa and ground beef chimichanga and it was insanely huge. Three people could eat this thing and it was all cooked / seasoned perfectly with a sweet mild sauce over it.
The barbacoa had a little different taste than I'm use to. It was great, but did not taste barbequed. It tasted fairly similar to really good shredded roast beef like you would find in the best pinot, but without heavy. The ground beef was great and what you might expect from a good restaurant.
Definitely the best chimichanga and the price is great considering the quality and portions, plus free chips and salsa that don't taste bad. 11$ for the chimichanga + 3$ to double the meat up + 3 for queso dip. Ended up eating a quarter of it as is and another quarter with queso dip poured all over while taking half home for another time, it's just way too big.
Think I will try the enchiladas next time after such a great experience with a smothered entree which I typically don't prefer. Great service, very friendly, definitely recommend. Very easy to miss this little place, but so...
Read moreTaqueria Guerrero Inc. was a pleasant surprise. It has a very unassuming facade, but when you step inside, it's a really nice and decent sized restaurant. It has a relaxed and unpretentious family atmosphere. We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon (June 1st, 2025) and noticed most of the patrons were either couples or families with kids. The family that sat next to was a couple with 7 children. They were perfect kids, all dressed in their Sunday best, and very well behaved. I'm extremely appreciative of parents who teach their children the proper conduct in public.
The restaurant has a varied menu with many familiar Mexican dishes. My wife ordered the chorizo & eggs breakfast plate, and I ordered the menudo. My wife is from Mexico City, and she has very particular taste when it comes to Mexican food. She loved the plate that was present to her. As for my menudo, the broth was just the right amount of spices, and the tripes & tendons were perfectly cooked. They were soft but not too soft to the point they're too mushy. It is by far the best menudo I've had outside of San Antonio 😁 including California and Baja California.
Our server Brian was very attentive, and he assisted us with anything we needed in a fast expedited manner.
Overall, we had a great experience here. We will definitely return on our next trip to New Orleans. We would gladly recommend Taqueria Guerrero Inc to anyone wanting authentic Mexican food in...
Read moreFood was okay. Service wasn't good. I strongly suggest confirming that everything on your plate is actually yours. When I went, I ordered tamales and gorditas, but neither the menu or the waitress told me that the menu item only came one gordita (the menus say gorditas aka more than one). Later, I was given a plate with two gorditas and a separate plate with two tamales. I didn't question this. After I had already eaten my two tamales and began to eat the second gordita on my plate, my friend inquired about her gorditas and others with us had not received their food either. Turns out that one of the gorditas on my plate was intended to be for her. (Her's was ordered without certain ingredients on it, yet was on the same plate as mine). Then, when I went up to the counter to pay, the cashier tried to make me pay extra for their mistake of putting our two separate orders of food on my plate. The waitress even asked me why I didn't give my friend the other papusa AFTER I had already bitten into it! Highly unlikely that I...
