I've never been into Yummy Yummy and to be honest, I don't have any idea where they are located. At some point in time a couple of years ago I started ordering from them fairly regularly. The food always arrives hot and tasty. Their delivery service is excellent.
But even more than just their great food, I would like to add a comment about their great service. Today is Mardi Gras day and everything is closed. I figured why not see if Yummy's is open. I called and sure enough they were open. The man said they would close in ten minutes. I asked if it was okay for me to still order online and he said sure. However, when I tried, it said they were closed, so I called back. The man said I could order over the phone. I gave him my address and he looked it up and asked "Have you ever ordered from us before? Because you're four miles away from us". I said yes, in fact I order fairly often but had no idea they were so far away. I honestly felt bad. Had I known they were so far away, I would've kicked the delivery person a couple of extra bucks.
The story ends with me being told no worries. I'm a customer and they would continue to honor my deliveries.
Mardi Gras Day - way out of delivery area - right before closing order and they still hooked me up. Now THAT is the epitome of doing good business.
They've won my loyalty for sure.
P.S. To all you service people who are reading this shaking your head that I dared to call ten minutes before closing to make an order, I'll admit that wasn't...
Read moreKind of thinking about the name Yummy, Yummy. Was kind of a deterrent to me. Yummy yummy good for the tummy. Parking was the pits. But if you live in New Orleans it's all over, so can't put a bad mark on that. Let's talk about what they do. And I say they do it very well. They're cooking wasn't the most tasteful but it was very enjoyable. I ate the egg foo young. I enjoyed it very much. On a scale of 1 to 5 I would give them a 3-3/4. Price was very reasonable as is with most chinese restaurants. The staff, can't comment on them, they were behind a plexiglass wall as is with most these days. My only recommendation for this restaurant would be is another name. Are could it possibly be that i'm the only one that does't care for the name Yummy Yummy. Yummy yummy there's love...
Read moreI’ve been uniformly disappointed in Chinese food in New Orleans. I hadn’t ordered from Yummy Yummy because, as someone else mentioned, the name put me off. No logical reason for this, in fact, it’s a memorable departure from all the China Walls and China Gardens.
My food arrived remarkably quickly via delivery, nice and warm. And it was delicious — fresh and flavorful with quality ingredients! I ordered fried dumplings, their special lo mein (subgum), and Orange beef. The dumplings and lo mein were not overly oily, as is often the case. Likewise, the breading on the beef was not too heavy and the sauce quite good — not like the super sweet, flavorless sauce you sometimes get.
I look forward to ordering often from this restaurant and trying more of...
