🍳🥂 Best Breakfast in New Orleans!

What a delightful surprise on our last day in New Orleans! We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning before driving back home to Birmingham, and we're greeted by such a sweet person, with a genuine smile that immediately put us in a great mood. She seated us right away and we ordered pretty soon thereafter. Our cappuccinos & food came out fast, and everything was so good! I had the corn cakes covered with hollandaise & bacon bits (chunks!), and my partner had Da St. Phillip. Both were outstanding and well presented. The cappuccinos were very good too. Who Dat seems like a neighborhood spot with regulars the staff knows. As we were about to leave, I saw a tall older gentleman come in, moving very slowly. He was greeted enthusiastically by a staff member (owner/manager?) who seemed to know him. They chatted and he got what he needed from their case of baked goods. As he was leaving, walking slowly, this staff member found his way to the back like he was working on some task. But from my perspective, it looked like he just came back to make sure the gentleman got out the back door and down the couple of steps safely. He was just helping the guy out and trying not to make him feel self-conscious about it. It was a casual act of kindness that was beautiful and has stuck with me as the last and best thing I saw during our trip to this lovely old city. TEN STARS. ❤️

Kept my breakfast simple this morning, but Marigny has many unique, eclectic spots for coffee and breakfast. Eleven to be exact. Who Dat is the jewel of these experiences. Situated on the corner just down from the fantastic Peter and Paul Hotel, it welcomes you with outside seating with large umbrellas, a placard of the specials of the day and a door inside to more seating as well as a fully stocked display of delicious pastries, cakes, fresh fruit and a fantastic coffee bar with no detail unattended. The stations from host to cooks to waiters, barista and service staff are all attended by long time employees. A sign of quality management. The food is well thought out from basics to New Orleans specific items. The coffee is of the finest quality. Absolutely satisfying from the simple to the intricate. They get it right. Even the average, plain coffee is special. Even the decaf. Absolutely perfectly prepared and served by attentive waiters that have personality, skill and are fun. Being a tourist you can expect a delightful experience. Being a local you can expect your selections and names to be remembered. This is a well run place full of laughs and characters you’ll remember just like the coffee and cuisine. A wonderful find in a perfect place.

Poor service and rude owner..

When my group arrived here I opened the front door without stepping in in order to ask if we could be seated outside. The host rudely yelled at me to put a mask on. My intention was to sit outside to avoid digging out a mask but rather then simply tell me I could go ahead and have a seat the host wouldn't answer me until I put one on. He then told me I could sit at 2 tables. Half of my group was already there and we took a seat at one table. The server walked by our table twice but did not greet us. The rest of my group arrived and took a seat at the other table. They had a separate server that brought them water immediately. My table continued to wait so I went to ask if we had a server coming. A server told me he would be right with us. I apologized but told him my boyfriend needed to get to the airport soon. He brought waters to our table. At that time he took our food and drink order. The second table had their food order taken about 5 minutes after us. All of their food came out more than 10 minutes before ours. After waiting a total of 45 minutes after giving our order my boyfriend went in to ask them to box our food and pay the bill as we no longer had time to eat. It seemed that the slow service was purposeful as we were overlooked several times.

I was also not impressed with the food. Small portions and over priced.

Once learning of my poor experience I was contacted by the owner. Rather then apologize for the bad experience he berated and name called me for writing the review.

I do not recommend...
